*Anelra's Dream*
"Anelra." I turned to see who called me. There was no one there.
"Hello," I called. "Who's there?" I turned again and jumped with a scream escaping me.
A man was standing right behind me. He wore a robe with a hood that covered his head, but I could see a few distinct features on his face. His eyes were sunken in with exhaustion and a scar going from his forehead to his jawline on the left side of his face. I knew him, but didn't at the same time. He did seem familiar though. More importantly, he seemed angry.
"How dare you," he growled.
"How dare I what?" I forced myself to stand tall. This man may be scary, but I had dealt with much worse than him in my time.
The stranger grit his teeth. "How dare you defy the true pharaoh. How dare you serve that boy as if it was his rightful place. How dare you disobey Kahmunrah." He stepped toward me menacingly as he spoke.
My instinct was to step away, but I refused to show weakness by giving him ground. However, I wished I had listened to my instincts when he got so close that he spat on me as he spoke. Ew. Say it don't spray it! I chuckled in my head. I was catching on to American sayings after spending some time with Nicky. Focus, Anelra!
I drew a small calming breath before I spoke. "Kahmunrah was not the true pharaoh. He stole the throne through murder. The King declared on his death bed that Ahkmenrah was to succeed him. If Kahmunrah hadn't killed him, he would have made Egypt great. All of that was stolen from him though. My mother raised me to serve the pharaoh. Kahmunrah was not the pharaoh to me. Many agreed with me. You seem to be the only one who supported him. Who are you?" I reached for my staff. I was so ready for this guy to get out of my face. Even in a dream he smelt of rot and many other foul odors. Unfortunately, my hand only grabbed air. Great.
The man took another step toward me. "You should know. I am one who believes in birth rights. One who believes in serving the pharaohs from the moment they are born. Kahmunrah was born to be pharaoh. Pharaoh Merenkahre was a fool for leaving the throne to that idiot. Kahmunrah would have made every other civilization bow if he had been given the time." The man threw his hands wildly. Yep. He's insane.
I was getting sick of hearing his ridiculous rant as well as drowning in his saliva. "A pharaoh should think of his people, not power. What is your name?"
The man stared at me confused and a little astonished, but clearly enraged still. "You truly have no idea?"
I stared at him blankly. I was about to introduce him to a headache if he didn't stop speaking in riddles. "No. Should I?"
The man scoffed. "You asked enough from what I was told. I'm surprised your mother never snapped and told you. She always did have a strong will though." He grit his teeth and mumbled something as he slowly disappeared.
What? How did he know my mother? How is he here?
My eyes suddenly opened. I saw Ahkmenrah above me while I laid in my sarcophagus.
"Are you alright? You were screaming." He stared down at me with worry.
I couldn't respond for a moment. Instead, I found a spot on the ceiling the watch as I fought to catch my breath. Why was I screaming? The man had been creepy, but not that creepy. I forced myself to shake off the dream. Ma'at would know what it meant.
I groaned as I sat up, aching all over. "I'm ok. How long until the sun comes up?"
"Maybe an hour. Do you want to go back to sleep?" Ahk still seemed really worried and obviously curious about my behavior.
