As I stood up from the burning wreck and looked around, painful memories flooded back into my head.

I gripped the side of my head as it stung, and it was painful, too painful, and the combination of screaming from my little sister, the yelling of my brother, and my parents calls for help were all deemed useless.

I soon realised that I was the last person left here, in this town.

I slowly got up, and the throbbing in my head only became worse. I started to walk out of the rubble, my crimson eyes searching for life, but all that was around in the rubble was bodies, millions of them, and with all their screams flowing through my head as I walked throughout the rubble, I stepped on one that was barely clinging to life.
"Your-" but he didn't finish, as he took his last breath.

My crimson eyes shot open.
"Captain Pompeii, are you OK?"
I looked over and saw one of the students I was teaching to bend.
"Yes, it was just a nightmare," I winced, getting up and putting on my uniform.

I walked quietly to get breakfast and reached the line, but by the time I got my toast it was cold and I threw it into the bin.

"CAPTAIN POMPEII!" I heard being yelled at me.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT?" I screamed back at the man in front of me.

"What are your orders for the benders?" He asked, startled by my angry outburst.

"Water benders will meet me on the beach, the earth benders will take the day off." I snapped, getting up and running down to the beach to practice my own bending.

'Emotions power bending, and water, of all elements, is powered by them the most.'

My uncles words rang clearly though my head.

Taking off my shoes I stepped into the cold water and allowed my emotions to flow.

"I see you are practicing your bending, Captain Pompeii." I turned to see narrow eyes from my students staring, and I quickly wiped the tears that had formed away from my eyes.

"Ahem, yes, let's begin." I looked at the water and started to water bend and the class repeated the movements after me.

*An hour later*
Everyone in the class was exhausted from training, and were at the point of collapsing.

"AGAIN!" I yelled, not realizing the fire nation ships approaching the island.

Their ship was full of soldiers and my bending students and I were losing the battle to them.

"PRINCE ZUKO, THEY'RE EXHAUSTED AND WEAK, THEY WON'T BE MUCH OF A CHALLENGE!" A soldier yelled while taking out yet another water bender.

"STOP! STOP! PLEASE, I'LL DO ANYTHING, JUST LEAVE MY STUDENTS ALONE!" I cried out at the boy that was smiling like a mad man at the amount of dead benders in front of him.

"Zuko, I believe this water bender is trying to barter for her comrades lives." Said the old man next to him as he looked at me.

"No captain Pompeii, don't do it!" begged one of the boys.

Placing my hand on his cheek, I smiled at him weakly.

"It was a honor to work with you." I smiled, slowly turning to face the prince.

"Very well... MEN, BACK ON THE SHIP! You'll be our prisoner."
