It was the following day and I was back in the hospital. Clips from the prior night kept replaying in my head causing the butterflies in my stomach to go wild. And then I would remember how I moaned the name of my ex and the butterflies would die.

"I cant believe I did that" I groaned from the couch and Gabe sat at the table. This was quickly becoming my therapy couch.

"Do you think he heard?" Gabe raised his eyebrows.

"I don't think so, he paused for a millisecond I'm pretty sure he just got tired"

"Well, they both do sound pretty similar. Ian, Ethan, Ian" Gabe sounded out their names over and over.

"Ugh" I groaned and laid my head back on the couch. "I hate myself"

"Girl don't we all hate ourselves!" Gabe laughed.

"Well, I guess its time to go wake up the man who's name I moaned last night mid orgasm." I groaned again.

"Want me to come with?" Gabe offered but I declined.

"If you were there I don't think I'd be able to control my facial expressions when Crystal talks" I rolled my eyes and walked out, making my way up to Killian's suite.

A sigh of relief escaped my lips when I walked in and Crystal wasn't there.

"Alright Mr. East, are you ready to wake up?" I asked his unresponsive body as if he was going to sit up and say 'yes'.

I watched as the nurse discontinued his IV drip and we both waited until he came out of the medically induced coma.

In a short amount of time his eyes were flickering open and by then Crystal had returned to his room.

"Good morning Mr. East!" I greeted him as I would normally greet my patients. "I know it's difficult to talk right now but don't worry, you'll be able to by the end of the day. You were in an accident and are at New York Presbyterian hospital. I'm Dr. Richards and I've been taking care of you since you got here." I continued as his warm hazel eyes sleepily opened and closed, glued to my face the whole time. I watched as he tried his hardest to keep them open, trying to prove to himself that he wasn't in fact, dreaming.

"You're probably very sleepy right now but don't worry, that is completely normal. You were in a medically induced coma for a few days following your surgery to give your body more strength to recover. But things are looking really well for you so we're able to wake up you, okay?" I smiled at him.

Ignoring Crystal, I walked out of the room and to my other patients room's to check on them, giving him more time to wake up.

By the end of the day, Killian's nurse told me that he had woken up more and was now able to talk.

He's asking for you. - 6:07 PM

I knocked on the door once again and walked in. Killian laid in bed with his eyes shut and Crystal sat beside him.

"How's he doing?" I asked and Killian's eyes shot open to the sound of my voice.

"Fine, he's talking more now"Crystal responded flatly. I could tell that she was still upset that I wouldn't disclose what happened.

"So I've heard!" I grinned and continued on with a short physical exam. "Things look good on my end, do you have any complaints?" I asked him.

"No," Killian's voice was deep and scratchy from not talking the past few days.

"Questions?" I asked.

"What happened to him?" Crystal asked the same question that she had the day prior. Did she not have anybody else she could ask since he woke up?

"Oh of course, Mr. East is it okay if I disclose your medical history with Crystal?" I asked and he hesitantly nodded after a few seconds.

"Okay," I started as I walked to the other side of the bed and sat. "You sustained quite a number of gun shot wounds to your abdomen and chest, 15 in total, all sparing major arteries and organs. But unfortunately due to the amount of shots, you lost a lot of blood in the field. On you arrival in the ED you ended up coding requiring multiple rounds of CPR but thankfully we were able to get you back." I paused after the image of Killian laying lifeless on the table vividly popped up in my head. I shook my head and dissolved the image into a million little pieces before continuing.

"Surgery was uncomplicated and your body handled it very well. We were able to remove all of the bullets which we have saved somewhere for you, and we were able to repair any damage that they caused, which like I said was minimal." I paused again but this time to the sound of loud sniffling. I looked up to see Crystal dabbing away at non existent tears, sniffling loudly as if she was trying to prove that she was crying.

"Um," I awkwardly continued, "yes, anyways you've received quite a few units of blood but I expect a full recovery from you."

"What about his face?" Crystal interjected.

"What about it?" I asked, puzzled.

"Look at it, this is not how he normally looks. He was beat up pretty bad, my poor Killian. Did you even bother to get an xray of it??"

Killian shifted uncomfortably in the bed and I knew exactly why. He didn't like how Crystal said that he had gotten beat up. No mafia leader would. It was insulting.

"Yes, all imaging studies were benign. No fractures, no dislocations, nothing. I can assure you that we have covered all of our bases here and Mr. East is now on the road to recovery."

Crystal nodded slightly and she reached over and grabbed Killian's hand. I forced myself to look away.

The wooden chair that I was sitting in screeched against the tile floor as I quickly stood from my seat and cleared my throat. "Anyways, I'll order some follow up imaging of your head to make sure you don't have a developing bleed that was too small to see initially. You can expect to be brought to that sometime tonight." Killian's eyes were shut but he nodded his head.

"I'm going to go grab a coffee, the stuff you guys have up here is trash" Crystal announced as she stood from her seat.

I nodded my head and forced a smile in her direction as she walked out and redirected my attention to the computer.

I tapped my finger impatiently on the keyboard. Of course they had to put him in the room with the slowest computer. I looked over at Killian and his eyes were still closed. I wondered if he even understood anything I had just said. Did he even recognize me?

I laughed at the thought that I could be so swayed by him yet he may not even recognize me.

Finally the computer loaded and I was able to put the order for the CT in. I prepared to leave the room but stopped when I heard a soft voice behind me. I froze in place and tried to listen until I heard it again.

"M- my angel" Killian's scratchy voice broke through the silence and I released the door knob from my hold. I stood in place and slowly turned around to face him. His eyes were just barely open but I could tell that they were staring straight at me.

"My angel," He breathed out, "You saved me." He whispered again, so quiet that not even the walls could hear him.

His eyes shut again as he fell victim to the sedatives that were still in his system.
