That I wasn't goin'
And I know you noticed I've changed-Noticing the music pause, Imani picked her phone up from the cup holder seeing a Notification from Apple Pay. Reading it she scrunched up her face when she read that Jania sent her 600 dollars. One because she hasn't talked to her mom since last week and Imani never asks her for money.
Putting in her password and unlocking it, Imani went to Jania's contact and pressed the call icon. Jania picked up immediately.
"Ma why did you just send that money?" Imani asked confused while watching people walk by her car from her tinted windows.
"You know how Kacey is in Florida right?" Jania questioned making Imani scrunch up her face.
"No, because I haven't talked to that boy since last year and what does him being in Florida gotta do with me?"
"Because he needs a ride from the airport to his hotel Imani. Stop being so hostile and mean all the damn time" Jania spoke with an attitude and Imani scoffed.
"I'm not being mean or anything but that's not my concern momma, that boy doesn't like me, and I'on like him. His dad rich tell him to send a car to pick him up" Imani looked at her phone mugging it as if Jania could see her.
Imani also felt like people only talked to her if they needed her or if it was beneficial. And, in this case, Jania needed a favor.
"Come on Imani it's dangerous out there plus he ain't never been to Florida, so do it for me please?"
"I can't pick him up right now even if I wanted to. I'm at Petsmart waiting for my dog to finish getting groomed" Imani huffed sliding down her screen so she could see the time.
"Kacey can wait he ain't nobody. I'll send you the airport address ok? Love you, and call me if you need anything"
"Love you too" Imani rolled her eyes then ended the call. She didn't even agree to get Kacey but what choice did she have?
Throwing her phone in the backseat Imani grabbed her car keys and got out of her car locking the doors and pulling her hoodie over her head.
Walking through the automatic sliding doors, a cool breeze from inside the store hit Imani in the face making her body shiver a little. Shaking it off, she grabbed a basket so she could get more dog food since Bronx ran out.
The store was empty, just an old lady working at the register, some workers restocking the shelves, and a couple of shoppers.
"Shit" Imani cursed looking at the variety of dog foods forgetting which one to buy and to make it even worse she left her phone in the car.
