Wendy floated down to the forest floor on a translucent green disk. Stepping off the disk, she dismissed the arcane glyphs hovering above her hands. Something rustled in the grass behind her. In a panic, she whipped around to see what was coming to attack her! Oh, it was only her bushy tail brushing against the tall grass. She gripped her staff tighter and gently tiptoed forward.

She had never seen so much green in her entire life. The city had parks, sure, but they always shared the same air as the factories and brass towers. Here, there wasn't a building in sight. Everything was shockingly quiet. All that filled the air was the chirping of birds and the gentle rustling of the trees.

And a deep, rumbling growl.

Wendy's eyes darted across the treeline. Her gaze fell upon a horrific approximation of a wolf. Deep red hellfire blazed beneath its patchy skin. Tongues of flame peeled off its coaly mane. The beast lunged at her. Wendy twirled her staff in a circle, carving a burning line through the air. A dome of green force sprung up in front of Wendy, shunting the hellhound off to her side. The hellhound didn't miss a beat, throwing its slobbering maw at Wendy's exposed side. In a panic, Wendy interposed her staff between herself and the hound. The hellhound chomped down on the staff, splintering and charring the wood between its teeth. Wendy yanked, and her staff came away in two pieces.

Wendy's heart pounded in her ears. She looked around for an escape. There! A clearing with a ruined stone temple! She traced a circle in the air, and a crackling green portal opened up before her. Without hesitation, she leapt through the portal and closed it on the other side. She finally let out a hard sigh of relief. Oh dear. She didn't breathe once that whole time.

"Er... hi?"
