When you turn 17, you finally get to be assigned a soulmate. A person can write things on their arm, and their soulmate can see it. The colour of the writing is your soulmate's favourite colour.

Tommy, a sixteen year old boy, has a soulmate who is a year older than him. Luckily, he'd finally be able to reply to this mysterious person, his birthday being a week away. He was happy he'd be able to know this person more.

He and his mom talked about the soulmate system all the time, apparently she was debating on whether to rebel against the system, but once she met Tommy's dad, she decided on stay in the lines. Tommy thought it was a stupid system, but he couldn't complain because his mom and dad are perfect for each other, and his friends have met people perfectly matched. Like Bad and Skeppy.

But, there were also bad parts of the soulmate system.

Like with Wilbur and Sally. They fought all the time and they never got along. They ended up getting new soulmates. Tommy didn't know where Sally is anymore.

Tommy didn't like the thought he could get someone he'd argue with a lot, or someone who might hurt him. But, what could he do? Absolutely nothing.

Tommy felt a tingly feeling on his fore arm, looking at it to see the usual purple writing, I can't wait until you're 17

Tommy smiled, thinking that his soulmate might actually be the right person.

He'd just have to wait.

[Time skip - A week later]
×Tommy's POV×

I sat on my bed with my mother, her teaching me about communicating with my soulmate. Once she was done explaining, she left, telling me to be careful.

I smiled, getting a sharpie. Yes, it's that easy. I wrote a simple Hi and left it as that. But I immediately felt that familiar tingle. You're 17 now! What's your name?

Huh, Ranboo, that's a weird name.. But so is Skeppy, Bad, Dream, and more of my friends' names..

Tommy sighed, frowning a bit as he wrote, The UK :(

Aw, that sucks.. So, are you boy or girl? I suspect you're a boy but idk.
