I had just moved into a new town far from my old home with my Dad, it was weird finally moving out of my hometown. But it was somewhat saddening since I missed home so bad, and I was far from both my brothers who both lived in completely different states. The town was almost like my old one, small and somewhat forgotten. We just got here a few hours ago and have only unpacked a few things, since the drive was long, I was too exhausted to help unpack things. So I tried my hardest to mostly unpack my things so I had somewhere to sleep for school tomorrow, and very lazily made my bed so I'd have something comfortable to sleep on and I'd get a good night's rest. I knew tomorrow was going to be a big day.
Since I've been inside all day, maybe I should sit on the porch for some fresh air. It was that time of fall where the temperature was just right, and I loved it. I opened the front door and stepped onto the porch, taking a seat on one of the steps as I watched teenagers from the nearby school walking home. A blue Mustang from the 70s drove past my house, there were 2 teenagers from the high school who were riding inside.
One wearing glasses stared at me as they drove past, my face became flustered as I tried my hardest to examine his facial features before the car drove off. It was too hard, because he was practically speeding.
I wonder if he was in one of my classes, eh, who knows. I stood up from the porch and went back inside and stepped into the kitchen where my Dad was making dinner. "Remember, you start school tomorrow." He responded as he sensed me walking into the kitchen "Yeah, I know." I answered as I opened the fridge and grabbed a glass bottle of Dr. Pepper "Where's the bottle opener?" I asked, holding onto the cold bottle "It's somewhere, give it to me, I'll open it." He said, I nodded and handed him the bottle and leaned against the counter while I waited for him to open it. "I hope it'll be easier for you to make friends." He tried starting up a conversation "Yeah, hopefully..." I answered trailing off as I stared at nothing. "You alright?" He asked, and I shook my head "Mhm." I spoke, taking the now open bottle from him, then headed back to my room, almost tripping over my cat in the process. Then went into my room, closing the door behind me and plopping onto my bed, taking huge gulps from my soda and setting it down on my nightstand and turned on my radio that was also connected to my phone. 50s music started playing onto the radio. I always loved 50s music because it sounded so sweet and soothing, mostly the love songs.
Time passed by quickly as I stared at the ceiling, I ended up falling asleep while my music still continued to play.
When I woke up the next morning for school, my phone was completely dead, which was my fault. I sighed and threw off my covers, now remembering that I had school today. I was too exhausted to take a shower, and wasn't in the mood to search the house for some clean towels. My bookbag was leaning against the wall near my bedroom door, halfway open since I put some things in it yesterday. I changed into some warm clothes and put on my combat boots, then grabbed my bookbag on my way out of my room.
The kitchen still had boxes on the counters. I was hungry but I didn't really feel like searching the kitchen for something to eat. My cat jumped onto the couch the second I sat down, then climbed onto my lap just as I turned on the TV. I went to YouTube and watched TV while I waited for time to pass by, I had to walk to school because my Dad forgot to discuss if I was riding the bus when he called the school, but luckily for me, the school wasn't that far from where my house was. When it was about time for me to leave, I turned off all the lights and grabbed my house keys, locking the door and stuffing the keys into my pocket.
I stepped off the porch and walked onto the sidewalk. It was pretty cold outside, which was weird since it felt like summer yesterday. There were other teens walking, as well as some people driving as well. To be completely honest, I was really nervous, since it was my first day at a new school and I didn't get a tour or anything. But maybe the Principal will give me one, or probably ask someone to give me one, who really knows. I walked across the street and stepped into the parking lot of the school, moved out of the way from cars leaving the school and blended in with the crowds of kids who just got off the buses. My schedule for all my classes were in my hand, I kept looking from my paper back to in front of me, so I wouldn't accidentally bump into anyone on my first day. My locker number was also on my schedule, when I eventually found my locker, I saw the kid from yesterday standing nearby.
I put my paper in between my arm and waist and attempted to put in my combination. I didn't notice him watching me as I struggled to open my locker. I sighed in relief after I finally opened it, then put my things in my locker. "Uhm... excuse me?" Someone asked, I turned to the direction of their voice and saw the kid from yesterday "Mhm?" I asked, "Since you opened that so easily, do you think you could help me with mine?" He asked, "Sure." I answered, shrugging my shoulders. He stood aside as I put in his locker combination, then successfully opened it for him "Thanks, oh, my name is Arnie." He said nervously "Mine is Modesta." I responded, he smiled "I'll see you later, I gotta get to class." I spoke, he nodded and I sped walked to my first class not wanting to be late on my first day. When I made it to my class, I started thinking about the kid named Arnie while I waited for class to start.
Just before the bell rang, I noticed that someone sat beside me, it was Arnie. I didn't know he had the same class as me, that's strange. The teacher closed the door and quickly started class.
The first day of school wasn't as bad as I thought it was, everyone left me alone, I didn't get bullied or anything. But when I saw that kid Arnie, he looked like his glasses broke and he tried fixing it himself, I wonder what happened. I wished I would've been able to listen to music while walking home, but my phone was dead, so I sadly couldn't do that. When my house came into my view, the moving truck was still in the driveway, but my Dad's car wasn't. So I might just be home alone for a while, I wasn't completely sure what time my Dad came home from work. I fumbled with the house keys until I eventually unlocked the door, Binx started meowing at me the second I stepped into the house. I smiled, closing the door and turning on the light, I leaned down and started petting his soft black fur as he rubbed against my hand.
I walked over to the kitchen and grabbed a drink, threw my bookbag beside the couch and kicked off my boots. Then I grabbed the remote that was stuck in between the couch cushions, turned on the TV, and started watching YouTube while I waited for my Dad to come home. Maybe he'd stop by some kind of restaurant on the way home, he maybe would since there was barely anything in the fridge.
I started typing my stories in Google doc, then uploading them to Wattpad, and damn that's so much easier then actually working on Wattpad. Also I know that Arnie dies at the end of the movie, but I'm obviously not including that. And I also know that it takes place in 1978, but this time it's in the 20th century. 2 days of school this week, gotta go!
