After being up since 3 AM, there were dark circles under my eyes. And it felt like I didn't even sleep at all because of how exhausted I was, but I knew I couldn't skip because my Dad would be extremely upset. I stepped outside the second Dennis stopped in front of my house, I shivered from the cold as I approached his car. I climbed into the backseat and closed the door "You look you haven't slept at all." Dennis said "That's because I was up since 3 AM." I answered, yawning "What for?" He asked, then I remembered about the terrifying dream I had last night. I didn't wanna tell either of them because they would think I was crazy. "Oh, nothing." I shrugged my shoulders, not only had Arnie ditched his glasses, but also started dressing differently than he used to. I decided not to say anything about it, since Arnie did say he wanted to work on himself.
I walked to my first class with Arnie, he noticed how much I wasn't talking "Are you really that tired?" He asked, "Yep." I answered. I was hoping I wasn't going to get confronted by stupid Repperton again today, I was definitely not in the mood for that right now. The day went by as usual, except the conversation we had at lunch sounded somewhat interesting to me. "I finally finished Christine last night." Arnie started "Well, good for you. Did you end up spending all your college funds on it?" Dennis asked "What other money would I have used?" Arnie asked, I was completely zoned out. "But weren't you going to use that for college?" Dennis asked "Yeah, but college isn't exactly what I wanted to do now." Arnie answered "Hey Modesta, you alright? You've been acting weird all day." Dennis said "Oh, uh, just didn't get enough sleep last night." I replied, they just shrugged it off and continued talking.
After school, instead of going to Darnell's Garage, I went home instead. Before I left, I remembered about the football game that Arnie was going to take me to tonight. I walked into the kitchen to grab a drink to really wake me up, my Dad was sitting in the living room "How was school?" He asked without turning around "Exhausting." I answered, chugging down the can of soda I found in the fridge. "Didn't you have that date with Arnie tonight?" He asked, I spit out my soda when he referred to it as a date. "What the hell Dad? It's not a date." I replied, wiping my mouth with my sleeve. "Seems like it to me." He shrugged his shoulders, I grumbled in anger and went back into my room to see if I could find something nice to wear. After finding something to wear, I fixed my makeup up a little bit, and finished getting ready just as Arnie arrived. I said bye to my Dad and left outside, there she was, just like the dream, except someone was actually driving. I tried acting like I wasn't too scared to get in, but the truth was, I was terrified right now. I opened the passenger door and climbed into the passenger seat and gently closed the door "You still look tired." Arnie pointed out "Yeah, I didn't have much time to sleep." I answered buckling up. He started driving, he looked completely different, even acted differently. And I was starting to get worried for him, maybe it was Christine causing this?
We arrived at the football field where there were already dozens of other people and cars. I got out of the car while Arnie did the same, I tried looking for Dennis on the field, but failed. While my attention was focused on the field still searching for Dennis, I didn't notice how close Arnie was getting.
He cleared his throat, I finally looked away from the field and glanced at Arnie "Hm?" I hummed for an answer "May I?" He asked, loosely wrapping one of his arms around my waist. My face became flustered as I tried figuring out what he meant by that, he just assumed me thinking meant yes. Then he pulled me close and passionately kissed me, I froze for a second trying to comprehend what just happened. Soon enough I melted into the kiss, ignoring everyone else at the football game.
After we pulled away for air, I noticed one of the players on the field knocked out while people surrounded them. "Is that?" I asked, trying to get a better look, but couldn't because the sun was blinding me. "What?" Arnie asked, he followed to where my eyes were looking. "Oh god, that's Dennis." Arnie replied, for the first time in the past few days, he was his old self. I urged Arnie to follow me as I climbed over the fence and rushed over to see if it really was Dennis, Arnie was following behind me. When I reached them after pushing through the crowd, I finally got to look at them, it was in fact Dennis. What happened? There were coaches trying to get everyone to back off while they called an ambulance, I was too distracted. Arnie grabbed my hand and pulled me away. "Come on." He responded as he led me back over to Christine. My eyes still continued to lock themselves on Dennis's unconscious body. "We can visit him at the hospital tomorrow." Arnie said, still trying to get my attention.
After finally snapping back into reality, I had the sudden urge to go home and lay down "Arnie, can you take me home?" I glanced at him "Sure," He shrugged his shoulders, I cautiously climbed into the passenger seat of Christine. I tried acting like I wasn't scared of her, because Arnie would've questioned me about it. He pulled out of the parking lot and started driving down the street "I'm sorry for that." He said as we approached my house "It's not your fault." I answered, seeing my house in the distance. "We can visit him tomorrow, since it's the weekend." He replied "Yeah..." I mumbled under my breath. He stopped in front of my house "I'll see you tomorrow." I sighed "See you tomorrow." He answered, I opened the passenger door and gently closed it.
I opened the front door and saw my Dad sitting in the living room "How'd it go?" He asked "It was fine Dad." I responded, going straight to my room. I closed my door before he could even ask another question. I was exhausted and had so many questions about what happened at the football game. But I was looking forward to seeing Dennis tomorrow. I hope he's doing alright, even though I didn't even see what happened to him. I was still worried though.
Soon I went to sleep, hoping I wouldn't have another terrible dream about Christine. I gladly didn't and fell asleep just fine, worried about Dennis, worried about Arnie and how he had changed in less than 2 days.
I had to re-watch the movie just to remember how everything was, I couldn't remember if the football game or movie was first. Anyways, I didn't update because I was upset when I came home from school today.
