Chapter 9: Gandalf's Plunge into Darkness

More and more orcs fell to the onslaught of attacks from the Fellowship, even more to the guardians although Kyungsoo didn't use his so often as to not accidentally cause a cave-in, instead he was more of a defensive fighter, occasionally defending the hobbits if they were fast enough to dodge or attack. "We can't keep fighting these things forever. There's no end to these things," Chen said, his hands surrounded by sparks of electricity then shot a lightning bolt at some orcs causing them to screech in pain. "I'd rather fight these things Than something bigger," Sehun said, sending a strong gust of wind at a group of orcs soon followed by a beam of light from Baekhyun which burned most of them.

However, things wouldn't go in their favor when a roar echoed through the hall. "Oh nice job Senshine, you just jinxed us," Yeona said, quickly melting into the shadows dodging a frenzied swing from an orc, soon reappeared and with a sword in her hand, stabbed the disgusting creature in the stomach. "They have a cave troll," Boromir informed the group as the troll soon made its appearance. It was huge with thick blueish grey skin and a collar with a chain around its neck. The poor orc trying to hold the chain got smashed. It also had a nice big spikey club to smash things with.

Legolas fired an arrow at it but it didn't seem to notice, only roaring. It tried to smash Sam, but he dove under its feet and to safety. He and the other hobbits ran for cover behind the row of pillars along the right wall. Then the cave troll tried to smash Gimli, but he jumped out of the way and destroyed Balin's stone coffin instead.

Legolas kept the troll distracted as it unsuccessfully tried to whip him with its chain leash while everyone else dealt with the dwindling number of orcs entering the room. Sam discovered that a frying pan was a very efficient weapon only getting some amusement from those that heard with his comment "Getting the hang of this" but now wasn't the time. The cave troll took a swing at Lay but he jumped out of the way and rolled under its legs and with an elven dagger he'd been given, took a swipe at its thigh. It roared in pain, but its skin was too thick.

The beast turned to face and try to smash Lay again, but once again, he rolled and sliced the other thigh this time. They repeated this dance, roll, and slice, turn, smash attempt, roll and repeat for a few moments, barely causing it any injury but a plus was that the cave troll didn't seem to be too smart.

That is until it turned before Lay could slash again and picked him up, gathering both of his arms uncomfortably in one large hand and making him drop his dagger. "Lay/ hyung!" Various members shouted as the guardian of healing lashed out, kicking at the thing, but it was no use. Luckily, Legolas came to his rescue, slicing the flesh in its armpit, which seemed to be significantly more vulnerable than other places. A few streams of dark blood trickled down its side, but it only seemed to piss the cave troll off more. Kyungsoo charged at the troll and with a glowing fist and help from Sehun, was launched into the air and punched it in the face knocking it back into a wall.

Fortunately, this was enough for Lay to be dropped to the ground and he grabbed his dagger and scrambled away. The troll; it had recovered from both attacks, suddenly turned his attention to Kyungsoo, having gotten bored of trying to grab Legolas and kicked him causing him to hit a wall. He stood up, rubbing his head with a few swears.

The cave troll suddenly seemed to gain an interest in the hobbits and went after them, Aragorn called Frodo's name in warning, but everyone was occupied by a new wave of incoming orcs to get to the cave troll and protect Frodo, who was currently playing a game of run around the pillar. But then the cave troll won said game and Frodo found himself trapped in a corner. Luckily Aragorn got there just in time and poked at the thing's chest with a discarded spear while Merry and Pippen threw rocks at its head. Xiumin and Chanyeol managed to help by using an ice sword to slash at its leg and a blast of fire to the other but were quickly once more occupied by orcs.
