[chapter three: the truth's out]

5000 BC MESOPOTAMIA

During the first year of the Eternals living in Mesopotamia and defeating the Deviants, everyone had become close enough to consider each other a family. Others though, thought of each other as more than brothers/sisters. For one, Sersi and Ikaris had found a liking for each other.

Sersi and Astraea, who were best friends, would tease each other for their crushes.

"He's staring at you." Astraea said. She and Sersi had decided to hang out at the Village, helping out the humans with their chores. It was something they both enjoyed doing. Ikaris would sometimes join them saying he would like to understand the humans, though it was just an excuse to be close to Sersi. That day was one of those days Ikaris joined them.

Sersi looked over her shoulder to see Ikaris looking at her, both of them smiled at each other.

"You should tell him already. He's not gonna wait that long." Astraea said, plucking out the corn's leaves.

Sersi playfully scoffed. "I can say the same thing to you."

A faint blush appeared at the gray eyed girl. She playfully rolled her eyes. "I have no idea what you are talking about!"

"Keep telling yourself that. Come on already! Everyone sees the way you two look at each other! He doesn't look at the rest of us the way he does to you and you certainly don't look at us the way you do to him!" Sersi said.

Astraea blushed and lowered her head, hiding her intense blush with her hair. She thought about what Sersi said. Does he like her the way she does? Sure they got closer this past year, always exploring, eating together, reading together, hanging out together in the meadow patch they found not too far away from the village. But does he really like her that way?

"You're crazy, it's that Ikaris love juice running through your brain" Astraea said.

"I'll make you a bet then. He confesses his undying love for you soon, you get to take me anywhere in the world I want whenever I want. If he doesn't I'll transform anything you want into gold." She smirked.

Astraea nipped at her bottom lip. Sersi was what you would call a luxurious woman in the sense of Nature and architecture. Granted, Astraea loved listening to Sersi, her voice always calmed her, but sometimes Sersi speaks too much. Then again, she had many things she'd like to turn into gold for the possibility of keeping it forever.

She sighed, "Fine."

After a while, Sersi, Ikaris and Astraea walked back to the rocky hill the Domo was stationed in. Well she was walking, Ikaris and Sersi were flirting.

"Star! Come on, we've got training practice, remember?" Gilgamesh said, 10 feet from her.

Astraea joged to him, "Alright alright, let's go"

The training area was just behind the Domo. It was a simple square shaped area with a few swords on a wooden rack.

On her way there she spotted Makkari and Druig hanging out in the training area. She smiled at them, though she would be lying if she didn't feel a tiny bit jealous.

"Well well well, the beautiful Astraea. What brings you here?" Druig said.

Astraea opened her mouth to answer but Gilgamesh interrupted, "Training."

"This'll be fun to watch." Makkari signed and sat down on the side of the training area, Druig following suit.

"No powers alright Gil." Astraea said as she went into a fighting stance, fists raised.
