    My name wasn't Cecilia.

As I stared at the mirror and put on a new color of lipstick and fixed my blonde wig, I was no longer her. Once the door knocked, I smiled to myself, walking with the incriminating evidence.

My suite was perfectly made to see the lovely sight of Paris and all it had to offer. It was the city of love. More like the city of cons and the perfect refill for this wallet. I grabbed the eyedropper, placing the liquid on my eyes to appear like I was sobbing my eyes out. But I couldn't cry. Not when I was close to hitting another jackpot.

"A-Amanda, my dear you said we needed to talk," I nodded quietly, pretending to sniffle. Ah, yes. My current name is Amanda, but we'll discuss that later.

The man in question is Henri Boutierre, a rich French man who was looking for a lover despite being married. I needed to assure my spot and he sat down on the sofa, patting the seat nearby. I threw the bag with the positive pregnancy test and he gasped, looking at me.

"Henri, mon amour don't leave me destitute," I cried to him and he hugged me, shaking his head.

"I can't have my wife knowing that I left a lover pregnant. Pardon Amanda, but you have to go."

"How am I going to raise your baby?"

"I will pay you 5,000 a month and if we need to get more, then I will agree as long as you leave," he said crisply and I offered him a drink. He nodded courteously and as I served his beloved whiskey, I poured my little savior in these times. Sleeping powder was a girl's best ally in these times but that wasn't not the point.

The point was that this man who was leaving a woman destitute would pay dearly for this. He drank casually and we spoke of the "arrangements'' for my departure. He yawned twice before he dozed off on the sofa and I grinned, looking for the wallet and to take out the money. I immediately turned my computer on and began to transfer the money into a ghost account where the money from all my cons went and when I heard a brisk knock on the door, I let my maid Viki in and she sighed loudly.

"Don't tell me you left him penniless, mi señora," I shook my head.

"And let him take advantage of me when he already has a wife? Que horror, Viki," I retorted and she fell silent. Men weren't loyal. My father was a perfect example of that and if he wasn't loyal, then why do we have to pay the price?

"At least leave the cash behind." She said sternly. I grumbled to myself as I packed up my stuff and left the apartment with the fake pregnancy test. Viki opened our car and I sat in the car as she closed the door and started driving. I knew she was mad at me, but one of us had to get the money.

"You took his money. You should at least donate some of it to charity at least to-"

"For what, Viktoria? To redeem myself? I don't have time for that when my head has a bounty." I hissed at her while I finished transferring the money to our accounts.

"Por dios..." Vicki swore while she drove us to the private jet and when we finally got to our terminal, our pilot greeted us and helped put our suitcases away.

"You can't escape your father forever, you know that, right?" Viki said to me, her eyes softening again. I had chosen to take her with me because she was the closest to an older sister that I had. We were five years apart, but for some reason... she understood me better than my own mother did.

"This is the last con I promise, plus the money I have is more than enough to settle down and to have a place just for the two of us. Our new identities can be settled and the money will keep us safe from him," I explained to her while she sat on a seat and clasped her hands on her lap. I put a hand on her palms and she wrapped me in a hug.

"What will your name be now? Please don't tell me Dolores because we all know that's all you cause me nowadays," She said and the pilot started laughing. I cleared my throat as he apologized and asked for our next destination.

"It's time to settle down in Miami. Richie, make sure to shut the door behind you before we start our flight." Viki declared and the pilot nodded as he shut the door. I sat down and sighed, staring at the window.

"I think it's time to settle for Cecilia Montovani." I told her and she gasped.

"You're settling close to the truth there."

"It's my mother's last name, not his. Plus, you know very well that Cecilia is just for decor,"

"Are you sure about that?" I nod, not trusting myself to speak. In an instant, lives could change and we had no idea how it'd happen... just that it would.

Today, I changed a man's life and left him penniless, but he also changed my life and I'd make sure to make that change count.

Meet Cecilia Montovani. Our resident con artist, she's ready to settle in Miami but at what cost?
