Chapter twenty seven
But somehow, for someone like the fierce muse, it was going to take more than Amaya's efforts to bring him down. This I knew.
That's why even after she linked energies with him, my muse was still able to control himself as if nothing happened, with just the slightest bit of effort.
Since her aim was achieved, she teleported Kuma back to the tower and had her full concentration on her brother.
Marshall seemed more than satisfied. He was obviously no muse to be held down by one fellow ghost. I saw him take slow steps towards me now since there was no more repulsion, trying to get back into my body and protect me before things went South.
But as always, the villains never ran out of tricks off their sleeves.
Badass hair cut, Evelyn, stood by Amaya and faced Marshall, turning her eyes into an identical shade of yellow. From previous events, I guessed that added her to the bond now. She had joined Amaya now to bond with Marshall. And of course, two were better than one.
My muse groaned at this point because slowly he was getting affected. Now he had to add extra effort, still managing very hard, slow steps towards me.
Then to make things worse, that pesky little child muse joined his friends to link with Marshall's energy. This made it three against one.
Marshall glowered at the brat he began hating since day one. I was gasping and watching him all along, hoping he could be that strong one he always was.
But oh was he darn angry. I even noticed something flicker in his eyes, something red, as he tried taking his attention back to his feet. My clan just studied the whole event, wishing there was a way to intercept with the link. But we were as good as helpless, just there watching one of us being tormented like that.
But Marshall wasn't the type to give up. He still arched a knee to move, determined to make it into my body, which was the only way he could be free from them.
This could only mean he was still too strong for the three. Meaning the falling needed more of them, and more they got.
Harold joined the three to link with Marshall's energy. This fourth force brought my muse to his knees, before all of us.
Amaya walked to him and squatted, "I almost thought you couldn't be stopped. Marshall, kneeling before me." She smirked lightly.
Marshall smiled up at her, "How I despise you. It so hurts that you are part of me. And unfortunately, it's going to need more than four of you to stop me."
He and I were just a few steps apart. And he still wanted to make it into me. At that, Marshall raised a knee to stand.
But the fallen were more determined than we thought. It took the entire five of them to completely make my muse kneel back and bow in surrender. Justin just had to come in, didn't he. Justin being the strong muse really gave my muse a disadvantage because that last link was detrimental.
Marshall sweated and shook his head, looking down at the grass in frustration, "Y'all are cowards." He looked up at them and continued, "So your last resort was to bring the fierce muse down with your entire clan."
That seemed to annoy Justin, making him clench his fist. That action of his appeared to be affecting my muse.
The sound of Marshall screaming was something that was annoyingly painful for me. It was the first time I saw him this helpless.
I screamed at Justin, "Leave him alone."
The strong one smiled at me and mocked, "Or what?"
I pounced on him in anger. As we all will have it, he just yanked me away effortlessly. He had this unimaginable strength. I stayed on my hands and knees, sobbing and watching them do all they could to hurt Marshall from the inside.
When Fred was angry to his limit, he made a ball of muse dust and ran towards the fallen. Muse dust was our deadliest power, something that was our identity alone and the only thing that gave ghosts pain.
Quickly, Amaya brought Kuma back from the tower, thereby bringing back the repulsion. And now, it pushed Fred back to where the other muses were. And they were back to their state of not being able to do anything.
That was smart, but cunning of Amaya. The fierce muse was the only one not affected by the repulsion, mainly due to the five attractive forces that held him still.
"You are the only ones that can help us now, "Fred said tiredly from the distance to all six humans.
We glanced at each other in confusion and faced our muses again.
"How exactly, without y'all?" David asked for all of us.
Clinton slipped his hands into his pockets and studied the idol for a while, wondering if their powers could still work from the distance, "We can't make it through that repulsion. But you can. And besides, your host powers can come in handy now."
But the fallen had plans as well. Amaya shook her head and went to the idol inorder to make the wish. That was going to be bad!
"Y'all can go on with your useless plans if you wish to, "Amaya said as she faced Kuma, "But I'm going back to life. Right here, " she turned to us, "right now."
I felt sudden weakness, because I felt too weak to stop them even when I could. Was this going to be the end?
Nope. My muse wasn't done being dramatic. He frowned at me, "Hey Edward! You are fucking useless."
Okay that was harsh. I turned to him with a big frown of confusion. So did every other person, including Amaya.
He went on confusing everyone, "What kind of badass brother would let those who made his sister's life hell go scot-free?"
I folded my arms over my chest, raising my brow while looking at Peter and Harold in particular. The sensitive muse seemed a bit disturbed, making me smile.
I turned back to Marshall as he finished his curses, "Turned out to be you are that nerd and scum everyone called you. You weakling.."
I grinned, at Amaya particularly whose face was ash white. She did those flinching actions that were supposed to weaken Marshall and stop him from talking. But he kept on insulting me, which was very annoying and exciting at the same time. My mind went back to the day Sophie was crying in her room, all cos of the two fellas I was glancing at one by one; Harold and Peter.
I looked at my watch and saw the reflection of my eyes on its glass; blue. For the first time I had that color of eyes without muse possession. Oh I was mad alright, even had the slight urge to rip someone's balls out.
My muse laughed from where he knelt and declared, "Amaya Godwin. I dare you to make that wish."
Quickly, she turned and rushed her words, "I wish that..."
Just as quickly, I made a fist and hit the ground, releasing a larger fold of the muse waves to disturb the idol.
And once again, Kuma went into some kinda trance after a slow frown at me.
Amaya faced me in red anger and screamed, "Can you stop that?!"
"Oh we're just getting started, " Marshall smirked.
She hurt Marshall again, making him choke on his own words.
Okay that was it.
I automatically learned how to make muse dusts on first try. Facing her, I shot the first blast at her from my hand.
It was too late when she found out what was coming her way. Consequently, my blast hit her, pushing her as far as the extreme fence of the abandoned school. This weakened the bond that held Marshall down, since one link was destroyed due to distance.
Justin groaned in anger. He made his own blast out of nothing and sent it to me. I was so excited and distracted about my victory that I didn't see it coming my way. For muse dusts to hurt muses, it killed humans, burning them into nothing. And I was human.
By the time I turned and noticed the beam, it was inches away from my face and it was too late for me to act against it.
Fearfully, I closed my eyes and expected the worst.
Suddenly, a dimensional portal opened directly between the blast and my face.
Justin's attack went right into the portal which had its other end right behind him.
The blast meant for me then came out from the portal behind him and hit him hard he was pushed far away as well. That was another bond weakened.
I turned to see who helped me by making that portal.
And there she was, grinning with her usual charm, Angela.
"I got your back, " she said sweetly.
I nodded to her, realising when one door closed, another opened, and even a better one. I was glad I met her.
Now the powerful of all bonds was gone, Marshall got on his feet and twisted his neck, facing the last three muses with a wicked smile.
