Chapter twenty nine
The whole scenario continued for an annoyingly long time. All the bullets came so simultaneously that I didn't get the chance to do anything to defend. They all got me and it was slightly painful. And the men didn't stop until they ran out of bullets. That was when they ceased fire and studied my direction.
As it always happened when bullets hit strong surfaces, a lot of smoke was formed around me. The men just watched quietly, waiting for the smoke to disappear.
Not to brag, when the smoke was gone, the only effect that sharade of bullets had on me was seen on my clothes.
Since they aimed mainly at my chest region, my upper clothing was perforated with a whole lotta holes from the bullets. And that was a very unsightly dressing for a muse in max. Consequently, I pulled on my upper clothing and tore it off completely, leaving my thorax bare.
I then tossed the pieces aside on the floor and sighed at the men, "I'd assume y'all live by fair play. In that case, since you are done with your useless madness, it's my turn. I just pray it would also be harmless."
As if I knew what I was doing, as soon as I was done with my speech to the men, two flappy things quickly popped out from my back. I turned my neck to look at it and noticed something I had never believed existed. Wings.
Enormous, black, feathery wings spread open from my back, giving everyone but myself an awe. Me... U I just smiled at it. I looked like an angel! Muse life was the best.
My friends at the corner seemed too shocked to say anything, not to talk of the fallen who had the hearts in their mouths.
I then returned my gaze to the men who tried their best to hide the fear I was clearly seeing in their eyes.
At that, I decided to have pity, "As merciful as I am, you all have one last chance to save your lives. I mean back down."
Two out of the seventy ish men tossed their guns away in surrender, then walked out of the whole school. I grinned at the rest. This was the moment that they should start asking for forgiveness for every sin they'd committed. They were on their death spot.
The men in tuxedos frowned now, gazing at this winged red-eye human, determined to crush every bone in me.
I was finding every bit of this hilarious, like very very hilarious.
I placed my hands out in a demonstrative manner and said, "Now... Let's play a game."
They raised their brows, most of them in confusion, others in interest.
Then I explained, "It goes like this," I closed my eyes and placed a hand on my chest, "I destroy you. You die a painful, regretful death. Then I win. Who goes first?"
Angrily, they took out another belt of bullets after the leader gave the order.
I was suddenly getting bored, so I turned to what was exciting me the most; my wings.
Just to see if it was actually real, I flapped it once. Somehow, the men who were acting all tough and deadly stopped filling up their guns and looked up at me in fear.
Raising my hands up in the air, I faked concern, "Oh I'm sorry. Didn't mean to scare you."
Why was it that people who were obviously afraid of you pushed so hard to take the bull by the horns. Desperate asses.
I eyed the pussies who aimed at me and it was obvious that I was getting bored of it.
Once again, the leader ordered them to open fire on me.
And it was wave two.
But this time, I had wings right. Wings that had the same nature of my body, iron hard.
Quickly, I squatted and brought my wings around and wrapped myself completely and protectively. The bullets meant for me hit my wings violently, forming sparks.
When they were done, I rose and stretched my wings out once more, admiring them because they were not even battered.
And I thought humans thinking they could beat muses was the most stupid thing ever. Until these crazy guys dropped down their guns and decided to use their fists.
"You did not just do that, " I shook my head in wonder.
Then they ran to me.
Hoping to try out my new weapon, I flapped my wings fiercely, forming a streak of wind strong enough to push the men in front of me away.
I was also pushed the opposite direction because of it, making me clash with the men behind me. Those ones clutched me down with determination.
And then, for the first time, I flew.
It took a lot of effort since I had some men on me. Finally, I spun in air and soared around violently until the ones grasping my feet let go of me.
Turning, I looked down on them, literally, thinking of what to do next. Finally, I decided to land down. I crashed into the melee of men with a hard dive. And at long last, I began to fight.
It went like this.
Using the enormous wings on my back to wipe most of them around me away, I gripped two men on their necks and pushed them to the floor.
Then I turned around violently, my speed unimaginable. A lot of kicks from my side came with that and punches of course.
It was even more graceful that I was in max. It seemed to double my speed and give me the feathery wings on my back that was easier to use than my fists. When the men saw they were at a disadvantage, they decided to shoot again.
And as before, I brought my wings to my front and wrapped myself protectively. That was the third wave of bullets for me. With the feathery shield around me, I got up unharmed. Somehow I was even getting bored of them.
I took my gaze to the idol which seemed to be recovering from the waves I sent.
Amaya was right beside it, gasping and starting to rush her words immediately, "I wish that..."
Before she had gone through with it, I flew at her and knocked her off her feet.
She lay and looked up at me standing above her. At that, the rest of her allies surrounded me daringly.
I smiled at them, rasping angrily, "Fighting all of you at once would be fish in a barrel."
James sent me a blast from his palm which I blocked with my left wing. The blast ricochetted off my shield and hit a bodyguard. Given the fact he was a normal human, he turned to ashes. The sight of that made me widen my mouth in shock.
I turned to James and joined my brows, "You little..."
Walking towards him, I noticed Justin obstruct my path.
He joined his hands in front of him, rolling his neck and giving me the most annoying look he'd ever given me, "Hey Marshall. Let's finish what we started back at the eatery. You and I."
I sighed, "Hmmmm...."
Justin possessed his host, Micheal Roland, an annoying nineteen year old. I flapped my wings, waiting patiently for the possessed Micheal to crack his joints and analyse me. When he was done, he raised and fist and came at me.
I swirled myself in the wind, reaching him a few seconds later with my leg already in the air to kick his face.
The kicks went from his jaw to his cheek, back to his jaw and maybe even his nose.
He finally gripped my leg and stopped my motion.
Frowning, I flew above the floor a bit with his grip still around me. Afterwards, I bent my knee and pushed him down to the floor with it. My wings formed a curved canopy above us, with me on him.
"You stand no chance, " I rasped wickedly.
His bruised face managed to smile as he replied, "You think so?" He raised his hand and sent a hard punch across my face.
I smiled with a roll of my head. Gently, I rose from him and put my right wing around him, lifting him up in the air with it. My eyes were on his stomach, wondering the worst source of pain I could inflict.
Finally, I took my other wing and pointed out its end to his belly, pushing it into the iron hard body. I heard him scream much to my own satisfaction.
When he could not take it anymore, he teleported away from my grip and appeared behind me. Before I could turn, he already kicked me from behind. I then faced him quickly and shielded my face from all his punches and kicks. I finally spread my wings out from my face and the resulting streak of wind pushed him back.
Another Ally of his, Harold, sent a kick to my face from beside me. Okay I wasn't expecting that. And just before I reacted, James sent a blast from my other side. To sum it up, Badass hair cut used a knife on my back. Totally, that hurt and I was surrounded, a little weak, figuring out that Amaya and the idol were nowhere to be found. That wasn't good.
With a small gasp, I pulled the knife out of my back, waiting patiently for the wound to heal. Afterwards, I gave them my attention. It was then I realized they were not done with me.
Collectively, they formed muse blasts into a ball high above me from their hands. Since I was in max, they figured only something as enormous as that can stop me. Even if I teleported out of there, they'd still keep that shot for me and get me sooner or later.
I looked up at it. The intensity of the light almost blinded me. It was that serious. And I was still recovering to defend myself. I sighed, watching them release it down to me.
Didn't think I'd ever say this but .. sighs I needed help.
