You took in a sharp breath as you finished organizing the last of the key cards in the compartment box in front of you, your inner self feeling relieved that you had finally accomplished your final task of the day.

The hotel lobby was fairly empty, as many of the guests had either checked out or returned to their rooms for the evening.

Though you worked as a part of housekeeping services at the hotel, you had been tasked with a job that would usually have been left to the front desk workers. Since it was Christmas Eve, some of the staff members had left early to reunite with their families, and you didn't happen to be one of them. Of course, it's not like you worried about that too much, because you were soon to clock out anyway.

You had been working at the grand hotel for a little less than two years, and you had already seen more than you could possibly have imagined. In such a short span of time, you had met many influential individuals, even going so far as to tend to their rooms whenever they took residence at the hotel. You had always been a steady and dedicated worker, so it was only natural that your seniors had assigned your services to the rooms of those that they hoped to make good impressions on.

And you hadn't minded one bit, because that had also given you the opportunity to get glimpses of the world that you would rather have observed than to have been a part of.

In the recent months, one renown individual, in particular, had become someone you had grown fond of - very fond of. He had been residing at the hotel for a couple of months, as a part of a mini tour he had been carrying out, and he was none other than Michael Jackson.

As tricky as it was to have had him stay at the hotel whilst dealing with the crowds that always hoped to see him, the management team had handled everything remarkably well. Of course, the chaos and discord was always arife - but nothing untoward had come of it.

Michael had managed to reside at the very top floor, without much hassle from external forces, and you had been the allocated staff member that helped him through it.

Most of your duties had become centered around him, and you had gotten used to the dynamic. It didn't take you long to realize that he was very kind and sincere - but he also had a wicked sense of humour, a trait you quite liked.

The two of you had easily become friends - so much so that you slowly grew more and more disheartened as his departure date drew closer.

He was to leave on the morning of the 26th, the day after Christmas - and you were certain that you would be sad to see him go.

You had forged such a memorable bond with him, and soon he was to leave, after which he was bound to forget you.

Well, we can't have it all, can we?

"(Y/N)!"

You straightened up at the sound of your manager's voice, your eyes snapping up to see her walking toward you from the lobby area.

"I've just received a message from one of your colleagues," she spoke with a barely visible smile. "Michael would like to see you, now,

"Oh," you nodded, shifting the key card box to the side. "Alright, thanks - I'll go up now,"

Erin, your manager, smiled in acknowledgement before she turned around to walk back into the lobby area, presumably to inspect a few things there.

She never missed a single detail when it came to the presentation of her lobby.
