Rosé's P.O.V.
"Hi Nali, I'm home," I announce, walking through the apartment door. I set my things down next to the door, getting no response. "Nali? Are you home?" I ask, louder. I walk down the hallway, following the light in the living room. Peeking my head into the living room, I see Denali sleeping softly on the couch, surrounded by tons of wedding pictures of flowers, dresses, food, and two glasses of wine in the middle of the table. "Aw, baby," I whisper. I walk over to her, pulling a blanket over her body and laying a kiss on her forehead.
Her eyes flutter open as she groans. "Hi baby," I say, slightly chuckling as she wakes. "Hmph, hi," she says, still in the confused waking-up state. "What time is it?" She asks, slightly rubbing her eyes. "It's almost eight, love," I tell her, brushing her shoulder. Her eyes light up, and her whole body shoots up to a sitting position with that information. "You're home," she says, almost shocked. "Yeah? Are you okay?" I laugh. "No, don't laugh. I must've fallen asleep waiting for you. I was going to order take-out so we could figure out wedding things together and be cute and things," she whines.
"Okay, well, I'm here now; everything can still go as planned. I can actually pick my food instead of you panicking and ordering everything like last time. The wine is still good, and so are all of these lovely bridal pictures," I tell her, kissing her head as she nods. "This wedding stuff is really stressful," she sighs out. "I know, baby, but that's why we're both going to figure it out, okay?" I tell her, rubbing her back. "Okay, thank you, Rosie," she says, kissing me softly. "You don't have to thank me, baby, but what would you like for dinner?" I ask. "Sushi? From that little place on the corner?" She asks, showing her big brown eyes. "As long as you call it in," I say with a smirk. She rolls her eyes and pushes my shoulder. "I'll do a platter, a number 6? That's the one with one of everything, right?" I ask her as she dials the number. She nods and starts speaking to the person on the other line, "Hi, I'd like to place an order?"
Denali scurries off into what I assume is the kitchen. I plop down onto the couch, propping myself up to lean on the arm and stretch my legs out. I pick up one of the glasses of wine and begin to sip as I look out the layout of wedding pictures. "Okay, they said it should be here in about 20 minutes," Denali says, coming back into the living room. She tosses her phone down on the table and climbs directly on top of me, leaning her back against my front. "Hey! I was trying to stretch out," I laugh. "What? I just wanted to lay on my favorite pillows," she giggles, laying her head against my chest. "My tits?" I laugh. "It's not my fault you have amazing ones," she giggles, getting comfortable against my body. I take my free hand and run it through her hair.
"So what are we figuring out tonight?" I ask her. "A lot of random things actually. I was hoping to get the playlist and guest list started. But we also need to decide on flowers, color scheme, cake, and food," she tells me, scanning everything laid out. "You know what else we should figure out?" I ask her. "What? Everything else needs to be figured out later. You mean like, who we're booking?" Denali babbles. "Well that's true. But, baby, who are we going to book and invite if we don't have a location or date yet?" I ask her, stating the obvious.
She slaps her hand over her mouth. "Oh my god, we haven't figured that out yet," she says in shock. She puts everything back down on the table. "Okay, so where would you like to get married and around what time of year would you like?" She asks me. "Well, you've been planning this wedding with nowhere or when we have it, so I was wondering where you were imagining this happening?" I ask her, slightly chuckling. "Well, I imagined it in this park over downtown. It's open land with a couple of benches, but there's this gorgeous gazebo. I saw a wedding happening there a few years ago before I even met you actually. I didn't think anything of it until you proposed and it's just been stuck in my mind ever since," she finishes. "Well baby, if that's what you want that's what we'll do," I say, kissing the crown of her head. "But this is your wedding too! You should also have a say," she tells me, slapping my knee. "Fine, you pick the venue and I'll pick the honeymoon spot," I smile. "That does sound fair, what were you thinking?"
"I was thinking somewhere warm, like maybe Hawaii? We'll have plenty of time to travel to Scotland and Alaska like we've always talked about. But, I'd like to spend the first week of the rest of our lives together just together, somewhere we can both enjoy and just be in the moment," I tell her, running my fingers through her brunette hair. She turns around to flip over at me, placing her arms across my chest. "I think that sounds perfect," she says with a smile, puckering her lips to kiss me. I chuckle and lift my head to meet her lips.
"Okay, next is flowers," Denali tells me, flipping back to our original position. "Please tell me one of the options isn't roses? I mean they're beautiful but its how everyone has spelt my name my entire life, I don't want the reminder at my own wedding," I whine. This is the only thing I will put my foot down about. "Well good thing I was thinking about Forget-Me-Nots as our flowers," Denali giggles, showing me a picture of the little blue flowers. "I love those," I tell her. "I was thinking we could pair them with something white, like a daisy?" Denali asks, holding up more pictures. "That sounds perfect, and the our color scheme could be light blue and white, maybe with a hint of yellow?" I suggest. "Rosie, you're so smart. We just killed to birds with one stone!" Denali cheers, lifting her hand for a high five.
"I'm so glad I agreed to marry you," she snickers. Just then, we hear Nali's phone go off, letting us know our food has arrived. "Agreed to marry me?" I chuckle. She shrugs before running off to grab our food. She comes back a minute later with a big brown bag and seats it down next to me, slowly dividing out our food. "So blue, white, and a hint of yellow," Denali mumbles while writing notes into her wedding book. "Are you sure you don't want any pink? It's your favorite color," she asks. "I don't want our wedding to remind people of a gender reveal party," I laugh, taking a bite of salmon. "Very good point," Denali laughs.
"So bridesmaids will have blue dresses while we rock it in white?" I ask. "Yes, absolutely. Have you asked Jan yet?" Denali asks. "No, I didn't know I had to. I figured she kind of just knew," I tell her, taking another bite. "You can't just assume Jan knows. On the day of the wedding she could be sitting in the crowd not knowing shes supposed to be up there with you," Denali tells me, shoving a cucumber roll in her mouth. "Have you asked Mik yet?" I ask, changing the subject. "Good try, Rosie. But no I haven't," She says shyly. "Are you kidding, Nali? She lives down the hall," I laugh. "Hey, you can't say anything. You haven't asked Jan! She's been your best friend since middle school!" She laughs back. "Let's just agree we both suck at this," I giggle. "Well, we need to not suck because they're the only two people in our wedding party and they don't even know it yet," Denali tells me, making a point.
"Okay, we'll ask them soon, but what's next on the list?" I ask her. "I wanted to figure out the cake flavor tonight, but I forgot we have a taste testing in a few weeks. So we have to figure out the meal," she says, looking through her list. "What if we do steak and chicken because its what you have at every wedding?" I ask. "Well yeah, we could do that. Except everyone our age going is a raging vegan," Denali reminds me. "So we do those two and then talk to the foodie people about a vegan option?" I suggest. "Yeah, if not, Mik can have some salad," she laughs. "Oh come on, you know Mik, she'll bring her own lunchbox," I laugh.
After that, the night slowly comes to an end. Denali and I work on the start of a playlist, and the beginning of a guest list- that we later be edited by both of our parents. The night ends with both of us climbing into bed, and I can't help by feel the butterflies flutter in my stomach as I think about spending the rest of my life with Denali as I hold her in my arms.
