Genesis 13:14-17
The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, "Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring[a] forever. I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you."
🗣️The Message📜
Many view being alone as a bad thing and moving away from family and friends as horrible, but sometimes that's the only way that God can grow and use us. Let's look at Abraham, God told him to leave his native land, his relatives, and his father's family and to go to Canaan. If he did this God would bless him, but we must pay attention, God told him to leave where he was comfortable, his family, relatives, the land he grew up in, and to move to Canaan a place he's never been before.
Even when he got to Canaan God separated him even further from his family with Lots departure. But when they were separated God reaffirmed His promise to give Abraham and his descendants all the land as far as he could see. God had a plan for him but he had to be separated from everyone else to accomplish it. God didn't make him rich until he was separated, and God didn't bless him with a son until he was separated. This wasn't just an Abraham things God separated Joseph so he could bless his family that would become the nation of Israel, God separated the nation of Israel from Egypt so they could serve him properly and inherit his promise, God separated and isolated Samuel and most of the prophets so they could serve Him fully, God separated David and isolated him so he could be faithful to the Lord as a king, God even separated the disciples from their homes and families so He could teach and use them to bring His Good News all over the world. God uses us best when we are isolated, separated from others, and focused on Him.
When God moves us it isn't comfortable Abraham had to learn about a new land and people, Joseph was sold into slavery and thrown in prison, the Israelites had to conform to a land they weren't used to, and David was on the run for years from king Saul. God doesn't want us to stay comfortable and to do the same thing, if we did how would we change and grow? If we are in the same place we will do the same things but if God moves us we can do greater things, if God isolates us we can focus on Him. Then when God separates a person and isolates them He doesn't move them back where they were He takes them somewhere else. We see this with all the people I mentioned. Even our Lord Jesus was isolated in the desert, moved from Nazareth to Capernaum and many other places, then He ascended into Heaven. His disciples and Apostles also traveled all around the world telling The Good News, but God didn't use them until He moved and isolated them. Separation is uncomfortable, it's difficult and sometimes lonely, but when we trust Jehovah-Jireh and put Him first we can be confident that wherever He brings us He will take care of us in it.
