"Xiao Yi! Come back!'

Ding Chengxin was walking in a park when he heard a female voice shout something.

"Xiao Yi, it's not funny."

Chengxin kept walking, not looking where he was going, when he felt something bump into his leg. He looked down and saw a little kid. He was rubbing his head a little bit.

"Oww," the kid looked up, "sorry gege, I wasn't looking where I was going."

Chengxin laughed a bit at the kid's cuteness since his pronunciation was a bit off but he spoke well for a child of his age. He looked around three years old.

"It's ok, don't worry," Chengxin crouched down to meet the child's height and ruffled his hair. "Where are your parents?"

"Hmm, my dad, I don't know who he is. My mom, she's in this park."

Chengxin was surprised at how the child before him laughed so casually at his own statement.

"Xiao Yi, why did you run away?"

Both males looked up. Xiao Yi immediately looked down in shame. "Sorry, I won't do it again."

The little boy went over to the girl that had walked up to where they were and hugged her leg. The girl also crouched down to meet his height.

Chengxin thought to himself, "she looks around my age, she must be his sister," so he decided to ask.

"Is he your little brother?"

The girl looked towards Chengxin and responded with a straight face, "no, he's my son."

Chengxin, with a shocked expression said to her, "what?! But you look too young to be his mom."

"I'm 19."

"Then what about his dad? He said he doesn't know who he is."

The girl looked at her son. "Xiao Yi, is there anything you want to say?"

"Uhh, mommy, I'm tired. I was running too fast. I want to go sit on that bench over there but you can stay here."

The two teens stood up as they watched the little kid run towards the bench and struggle to sit on it because of his height.

"You're 19? Wow, I'm 19 too. I can't imagine myself having a kid at this age."

"If someone asked me 4 years ago what I thought I would be doing at 19, I would have never guessed that I would be a mother."

"What about his dad? Did he leave you when he found out?"

The girl just looked at Chengxin with a blank stare for a few seconds.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to pry."

"No, it's ok. He did leave but after my son was born. He passed away in a car accident 2 years ago."

"I'm sorry for your loss."

"I should get going now. Sorry for taking up your time."

The girl walked over to the bench where her son was sitting. But as she was walking away, she heard someone speak to the boy she was just talking to.

"Yah, Ding Chengxin, why did you leave? You said you were going to wait." The person speaking noticed the girl walking away. "Do you know her?"

"No, that kid bumped into me so she was apologizing for him."

The girl didn't hear anymore of their conversation.

"Mommy, my shoe is untied, can you do it for me?"

The girl and the child didn't notice that someone was secretly taking pictures of them.

They walked away while the person still took pictures.

"Chengxin, what are you doing. I'm telling the others you're taking pictures of strangers."

"Shut up Jiaqi," he said in a playful tone since he knew his friend was joking around with him.

"Alright, let's go. The other's are gonna wonder where we are."

*5 years later*

"Thank you for coming, we'll contact you when we make our decision."

The person in the room walked out and then a phone rang quietly.

"I have to take this, I'll be right back. Call in the next person."

The ringing phone was answered in a quiet place where there were no people.

"Xiao Yi! How are you?"

"I'm ok mom. Are the auditions over?"

"No, but I always have time for you. Do you need anything?"

"I just wanted to know when you're coming home."

"I'll be home in a few hours. There's still a lot of people left that have to audition."

"Then I'll hang up now so you can come home earlier."

The call ended and the female, who could now be considered a woman, walked back to the audition room.

"Director Huang, you're back."

She walked back to her seat and looked at the person that was auditioning. He looked familiar to her.

The person that was auditioning also thought that Director Huang looked familiar to him when they made eye contact for a split second.

"Was that him?"

"Yeah, he wanted to know when I'm going home. So let's not waste time," she said to the person that asked who was sitting next to her.

She then turned to the other person in the room.

"Please introduce yourself and you may begin the audition."

"Hello. My name is Ding Chengxin..."

*after the audition*

Chengxin was walking out of the audition room and overheard a conversation between two girls.

"Doesn't the director have a child?"

"She's like 24 so that doesn't give off a good image. She's not even married or anything."

"Hey, it's not well-mannered to speak bad about other people behind their back."

"Why do you care, it's not like we were talking about you."

A staff member frantically busted into the audition room.

"There's an argument going on outside."

Everyone rushed outside as soon as those words came out of the staff member's mouth.

Director Huang decided to listen to the conversation for a bit and then walked over to the three people that were arguing.

She turned to the two girls and said, "thank you for coming, you can leave now."

"But we haven't auditioned!"

"Exactly, you can leave now."

They left and Director Huang turned to Chengxin.

"Thank you for coming, please wait to hear back from us."

Before leaving Chengxin whispered something to Director Huang.

"It's been 5 years since I've seen you. Say hi to your son for me. I hope I see you again in the future."
