Stardust part 3

Chapter 6

Mika pov

I didn't have a problem with staying in the room, to be honest I was worried about him, he was rarely sick, I didn't want to go out and leave him alone, as I didn't know what he caught. He slept for hours now, I didn't leave him for one second, he was pale and sweaty now and I started to think about possible ways to get sick.

I thought about the food but it was harmless for humans, I searched on my phone without success. I didn't sleep the whole night, I just watched him, the next morning he luckily woke up.

"How do you feel?"

"Sick."

"We need to check out and go home."

"Okay."

"Stay here I'll do it."

"Thanks."

He seemed weak, even worse than yesterday, I did the checkout and brought him home. As we arrived my mom greeted us but as he wanted to walk he collapsed, I could catch him before he hit the floor.

"Mom?!"

"I don't know honey! You should bring him to the hospital right now, it seems bad!", I just nodded and typed the address in our bracelets.

I deactivated them yesterday, I thought they might be useful sooner or later. I picked him up and ran in the hallway.

"Hello?! I need a doctor!"

"What happened?", a nurse came.

"I don't know. We were on a cruise ship and yesterday he said he feels sick. Today he collapsed."

"Okay follow me."

After a while what felt like an
eternity the doctor came in.

"Hello. What species is he?"

"Human."

"Did you leave the ship once?"

"Yes, twice. We were on Barcelona, first day at the market, the next day in a garden."

"Okay, could you check the planets statistics on diseases?", he asked the nurse.

A few minutes later she came back, handing him a piece of paper.

"What is it?", I worriedly asked while holding his hand, he passed out by now, just the beeping sounds of the machines.

"Well, I have good news and bad news. The good news is it's a virus we know, it is habited in this garden."

"And the bad news?"

"It's deadly for humans."

"What?! Are you kidding me?!"

"I'm sorry. But we don't know how to heal it on humans."

"No! This can't be. No.", I looked at Andy his eyes closed, the grip of his hand loosing.

"No, no, no! Stay with me! We wanted to adopt Johnny, right? Please. I know I said I would outlive you but not like this.", I cried, putting my head on his chest.

"How long?", I whispered to the doctor, afraid of the answer.

"In this state only a few hours."

"Healing method?"

"Sorry.", he said looking on the ground as I cried harder.

"But why? I feel great."

"It's harmless for us."

"Isn't there a way to help him with that knowledge?", I cried at him.

"There's one possible way to cure him, but it's dangerous, there's no guarantee it will work."

"What do I have to lose?"

"We can try to inject celestial blood into his organism."

"Do it!"

They did their job and told me we had to wait. They had to remove everything from his body, his clothes, his ring, the contacts and the ear plugs, it was the first time in ten years I saw him without them. He didn't move for hours, the waiting almost killed me, I let my head rest on his chest, his breathing slowed down, I grabbed his hand and held it tight, closing my eyes, I didn't want to see this, I couldn't watch him die, my eyes hurt from crying, I almost ripped a hole in the blanket.

My head already planned how I tell his parents, the kids and Johnny. Me alone with four kids, I wanted to end my life but I couldnt, the kids were too young. I cried for hours, he still didn't move, I started to relax thinking it's over. Why him, I loved him so much and I will forever, why is it always me? First Nic and now Andy. Why did I bring him on that goddamn ship?! I didn't want to open my eyes, I couldn't look at him. Seeing him dead would've killed me.
