Tigress stood outside of the Jade Palace around sunset, waiting eagerly for a particular wolf to show up.

A gentle breeze blew from behind the tiger, deafening the sound of two paws landing right behind her. Xing lightly tapped on Tigress' shoulder.

"Hey," the wolf whispered, causing Tigress to jump in a fighting stance.

Her face changed to relief as she acknowledged the wolf in front of her. "Oh, hey. You made it."

"Come on now, I wouldn't leave my best friend hanging," Xing smirked, but cringed slightly at 'best friend'.

Tigress nodded and led her through the building, and into the dining area where Po served everyone dumplings and tofu stir fry.

"I remember, your favorite food always was tofu stir fry," Xing smiled as she picked her food.

Tigress blushed lightly but said nothing as she ate with a small smile on her lips.

"Ooh, looks like someone's got a little crush~" Crane exclaimed, prompting Tigress to look at him with a 'shut up or I'll eat you up' expression.

The bird ignored her as he started singing, "Xing and Tigress sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-" Tigress covered her face from embarrassment, while Po, Mantis and Viper joined in the singing and laughed.

Xing glanced over at Tigress and smirked.

"I heard you guys like knuckles with your dumplings," Xing said, cracking the knuckles on her paws and instantly shutting up the others.

Tigress looked over at Xing with a grateful look, and the wolf returned it with a beaming smile and sent the feline a wink.

"Anyhoo... Xing, mind telling us how you met Kitty McWhiskers here? Like, your entire backstory," Po asked, leaning forward to soak in every word.

Tigress let a low growl and glared at Po before turning her attention to Xing.

"It's a long story," the wolf sighed.

"It was a stormy night when I found the orphanage," Xing began. "I was being chased by evil wolves which killed my parents. I jumped in through a window and found myself in a secluded room. A pair of yellow eyes greeted me from the shadows; at first, I was scared, but the creature emerged, young Tigress. She saw that I was like her - claws and sharp teeth - and eventually, we warmed up to each other.

"A while later, when Master Shifu took Tigress away, I followed after them. As he was training Tigress, Shifu seemed to think that I was a distraction to Tigress, and told me that she was destined for something greater than I would ever be. Either way, I was cast aside during training until I noticed that it was getting late. I should've stayed put and waited until morning but, as dumb as I was, I ran home during the night, unaware of the evil wolves that lurked in the dark.

"They followed me home... killed my nana, and left me with nothing. A while later, as I scavenged the streets, a wolf pack took me in. And I've been staying with them all this time," Xing said.

They all gaped at her with wide eyes, and Po started crying dramatically. "That was so sad!" The panda cried, blowing his nose on Viper's tail. The snake glared at him and snatched her tail away from his grasp.

"Why didn't you come tell me," Tigress asked, some sort of sympathy in her eyes.

"I was going to. But Shifu told me-" Xing was interrupted when Master Shifu approached the table and sat down to eat - right in front of Xing.

Silence hovered over the room as Monkey coughed.

"So, Xing, I heard you belong to this... rogue-like group of wolves. Did you, in any way, participate in Lord Shen's uprising?" Master Shifu raised his brow as he awaited Xing's answer.

Catching onto the master's drift, Xing confidently smiled and replied, "No, actually. Our group stayed clean away from Shen's army. We are, as you said, 'rogue-like' and therefore do things ourselves with no connection to the army whatsoever."

"Hmph. Fair enough," Shifu nodded. "And how's the pack doing, stealing and raiding?"

"Oh, that isn't going to be a problem anymore, sir. I talked to the leader, Li Jing, about starting a new trading system with wolves. We'll be getting a legal life force soon," Xing said.

Noticing the sour change in Shifu's face, Tigress finished her meal just as Xing finished hers.

"Thank you for the meal, master," Tigress bowed. "If you'd excuse me, I'd like to take Xing to my room."

Master Shifu nodded, and Tigress dragged Xing out of the dining to her room.

Tigress' face softened upon seeing Xing and sat down next to her; their tails brushing each other as they sat in silence.

"When you left, Master Shifu told me that you were killed by a pack of wolves," Tigress began.

Flashback

"My training began to appear weak, in Shifu's eyes. I was failing more than I was supposed to."

Young Tigress ran through the training course, but continued getting distracted as she thought of Xing against the evil wolves.

The young feline continued getting hit across the face and punched and kicked in the body and chest.

She slid back to Master Shifu across the floor, followed by dust.

"I'm very sorry, Master. I got... distracted," Tigress got up and bowed apologetically.

The red panda shook his head. "Your friend is gone. You must learn to accept the truth, and focus."

"Yes, master."

"Good. Again!"

And with that, Tigress continued her training, trying her best to push any thoughts about Xing away, but continued to maintain a sad face.

End of Flashback

"Wow. Shifu told me never to set foot in the Jade Palace again," Xing said, looking down. "Said I was too much of a 'distraction' for you."

"But that doesn't matter, anymore. I'm here now to stay," Xing said, softly wrapping her furry tail over Tigress'. The feline looked up and nodded, a small smile spreading over her face.

"Yeah, for good this time," Tigress agreed, winding her tail around Xing's and leaning in resting her head against the wolf's shoulder and letting out a soft purr.
