Chapter 5

-Destiny

Once I woke up in the morning, I started getting ready for school. As soon as I got out the shower I realized I was still suspended.

"I could've still been sleep." I mumbled to myself.

My mom wasn't home, so that was a positive. I fixed some froot loops and watched tv. While eating, someone knocked on the door and I just ignored it until they knocked again. I groaned and got up taking another bite of cereal.

"hey Destiny." Jalen said, standing right in front of the door with a big smile.

"hey, what are you doing here?" I ask, wiping some milk off the corner of my lip.

"I was walking and decided to stop by." He responded.

"Your lucky my mom isn't here. Come in." I say, opening the door wider.

"I know she's not here, I saw her leaving while I was walking. But I came here to tell you we are going to go somewhere." he said.

"Where?" I question.

"It's a suprise. But we will be going later." he said smiling.

"Are you asking me to go or telling me? And I don't like surprises."

"Telling. And you'll like this one." He said.

"Well okay, I guess. What time are we leaving?" I ask.

"Around 5." He said. It was 9:00 am now, so it was a while until I had to get ready.

"Ok, so we will just meet at the park at 5. See you later." I say, walking towards the door to lead him out.

"You just gonna kick a nigga out?"

"It wasn't meant like that. It's just that I was in the middle of a good show and eating cereal. And our conversation is finished right?"

"Girl, dump those soggy fruites out and come over my house and get you a real breakfast." He said, walking over and cutting the tv off.

"I'm fine Jalen." I say, really wanting a better breakfast, but not wanting to be a burden on his mom.

"Stop lying. Come on now Destiny." He said, grabbing my hand.

"Fine." I say grabbing my keys and walking out the door behind him. "I'm coming right back home afterwards, but where's Myles?"

"He went over some animals house." he responded.

"What do you mean?" I ask, kind of confused.

"A non-attractive girl." He said, causing me to laugh.

"Ooh I see."

"yeah, but I been meaning to ask you , why did you get suspended?"

"Fight."

"Soo you the drama type of girl."

"No, I honestly don't like drama. I rather just stay low. This girl hit me twice for no reason, so I punched her and got in trouble." I say.

"oh good, I don't need no messy drama girl."

"I'm not your girl." I say rolling my eyes.

"You will be though." He said winking and I shook my head no. "You never know what the future holds Destiny. Just loosen up some."

We arrived at his house and walked up the few stairs towards his front door. His mom was laying down on the couch with a bath cloth wrapped around her head.

"Ma what's wrong?" Jalen asked.

"Just another headache." She responded, like it was nothing.

"Oh, Destiny is here though."
