"Jiang Cheng! Your cat is being mean to me again!" Jiang Cheng sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Xiao Liu doesn't like cuddles. She's not one of your pet bunnies."
"Why is she so clingy with you then? I'm the one who saved her," Wei Wuxian grumbled. He watched the white cat bounce away as he rubbed at the scratches on his hand.
"As if you know anything about caring for a cat."
"Dogs and cats are not the same," Wei Wuxian pointed out.
"Of course they're not." Jiang Cheng crossed his arms. " Dogs are infinitely better." Wei Wuxian made a face at his younger brother.
"They are not."
"At least they won't scratch you."
"So what? They have sharp teeth and big jaws! And they have claws too! What do you mean, they won't scratch you? I've experienced it before."
"So does a tiger. Which is a bigger version of a cat."
"A regular cat would never get that big!"
Their loud bickering was interrupted abruptly by the shrieks of delights from the younger disciples followed by loud splashing near the pier.
"I don't have time to argue with you all day," Jiang Cheng snorted. "I have work to do. And so do you."
"Right," Wei Wuxian laughed. "Am I doing talisman training or archery training today?"
"Up to you. Don't you teach them interchangeably anyways? Make your own decisions." Jiang Cheng walked off before Wei Wuxian could reply. After gathering some papers and ink from his room, he led the disciples to one of the courtyards further away from the inner houses of Lotus Pier. He noticed Hong Feng and Hong Mei peeking around the corner, their eyes round with curiosity, but still careful enough to not come any closer.
"Da-shixiong, what talisman are you showing us this time?" The disciples crowed out in excited and mingled voices.
"Watch carefully, okay?" The corner of Wei Wuxian's mouth twitched into a smile as he drew out the characters onto a blank piece of talisman paper. He can feel at least a dozen pairs of eyes on him, watching his every movement. When he finished drawing, instead of pushing it outwards, he slapped the talisman onto himself. A few disciples gasped while others just widened their eyes further. Suddenly there were cries of alarm.
"Eh?"
"Where did he go?"
"He was right there, wasn't here??"
"Wei-qianbei?"
The disciples started walking around the courtyard, looking around in confusion. Wei Wuxian tried his best not to laugh and he watched them for a few minutes more before he tapped one of the disciples on his shoulders, making him spin around in alarm.
"What was that??"
"What's wrong?"
"Something touched me."
"Children," Wei Wuxian finally spoke up. The disciples looked around frantically for the noise. The invisibility talisman's effect died off a few seconds later and he flickered back into view, making several disciples jump. It wasn't long before they regained their composure though and were crowding around him.
"That was so cool!"
"Teach me first!"
"This would be so fun to pull pranks with!" One of the disciples spoke up his mind loudly and Wei Wuxian felt himself outwardly cringe. Jiang Cheng would not be happy if he found out about this.
