A/N: So much for not writing angst...I couldn't help it. Anyways please enjoy the story!

"A-Yuan, are you going to tell me, or do I need to ask?" Wei WuXian looked over as his son sat on the bed on the opposite side of the room.

"Ask what?" Sizhui blinked at him. Wei WuXian sighed.

"You and Jin Ling aren't hiding it very well. It's okay, you know. To let your feelings out. I know what the Lan Sect teaches about keeping emotions in, but you also need to be honest. Do you like him?"

"I...I'm not sure yet," Sizhui admitted. "I still need time. But I know Jin Ling really cares for me. I was his first friend after all. It's just that....I don't want him to blame himself." Wei WuXian blinked.

"Blame himself? For what?"

"For what happened to my..my sect...my family...." Wei WuXian froze. He hadn't forgotten the bloodshed the Jin Sect caused in the past. Things were obviously much better now that Jin Ling was leader, but what had happened in the past would affect Sizhui, even if he had only recently regained his memories. Wei WuXian stood up and came to sit beside Sizhui on the bed.

"Y-you don't blame him...right?" Wei WuXian asked slowly.

"Of course not!" Sizhui replied. "He was only a baby when it happened too. It's just...what if he thinks we can't be together because of what happened? He would blame himself if anything happens to me."

"Nothing will happen to you," Wei WuXian interrupted him fiercely. "Lan Zhan and I will protect you and you have Jingyi and Zizhen as well. A-Yuan, why are you being so pessimistic? Is something wrong?"

"It's nothing. Good night, A-Niang," Sizhui flipped onto his side and covered himself with his blanket. Wei WuXian sighs and lies down onto his own bed to rest.

They got up early the next morning as they had a lot of ground to cover.

"So what is our plan on defeating this Dream Demon? It can be incredibly dangerous if any of us get trapped as well," Jingyi looks at Wei WuXian expectantly.

"You need to have someone on the outside....talking to you. To make sure you don't fall too deep into the nightmare," Wei WuXian tells them. "I haven't dealt with Dreams Demons before, but we need some method to keep each other connected. Or a method to wake each other up. The Clarity Bell should do. I have one and Jin Ling has his. A communication spell should work as well."

"Is that enough?" Wen Ning blinks. Wei WuXian sighs and turns to look at each of them in their eyes.

"You need to have a strong will and mind. Overcoming your fears isn't easy and the demon will show you your worse ones. It isn't just about defeating the Dream Demon but your inner ones as well."

"That sounds...scary," Jingyi said quietly.

"Don't worry. Just let me handle the sleeping and you guys can kill it from the outside," Wei WuXian told them. Jin Ling's eyes widened with alarm.

"No way! It's too dangerous!" Sizhui spoke before he could.

"Where's the danger? I have three pairs of eyes watching over me," Wei WuXian pointed out.

"We're supposed to work together to defeat it! We can't just let one person deal with it!" Jin Ling retorted. "Besides, people with...," he hesitated, shooting a glance at Wei WuXian before speaking again. "Complicated pasts...may succumb to possession more easily." Wei WuXian looked away at those words. He didn't need to be reminded of how his past life still haunted him, despite telling himself to start over in his new life. The things that had happened back then were never easy to forget. Even if he had pushed them to the back of his mind, they were still there in his memories.
