Principle is an idea or concept. It can also mean the investment someone puts in, but that's a lot less common in stories.
Ex: "It was the principle of it all that really bothered her."
A principal is the person that runs a school.
Ex: "The teacher sent me to the principal's office for refusing to take out my ear buds."
