37 - A deal? Or Not.

Taehyung leaned on the door as he watched Jimin set-up 6 laptops on a round table. The laptops are connected to a storage device which carry all the data extracted from Jay's organization.

As a security precaution, all the data collected from Jay's organization had been stored and handled by only Jimin. But now that they have to go forward with the legal proceedings, these details need to be analyzed carefully.

5 new people were assigned to the task. Choi Yeonjun, Choi Soobin, Huening Kai, Kang Taehyun and Choi Beomgyu. It was strenuous work but the 5 youngsters were definitely up for the challenge.

There was only a little paper evidence as Taehyung couldn't sneak much of those under the watchful eyes of Jay's men. And it would have anyway looked suspicious if documents started to disappear. Almost everything they had was gathered electronically.

They were nicely engaged in the work when there was a sudden knock, followed by Hoseok opening the door.

"Uhh.. Tae, you have to come quickly." Hoseok's voice sounded urgent and after sharing a confused look with Jimin, Taehyung followed Hoseok out of the room.

"What's wrong?"

"Chenyeol had requested to testify against Jay's men, in exchange for reduced jail time. They had just brought him here for questioning."

"What?! Did they already agree to it?"

"Not yet. They wanted to check what information he has and they also want you to oversee the interrogation."

Both of them walked into the monitoring room where you can oversee the interrogation through a one-way mirror. Chenyeol was sitting at the table with his hands cuffed to it. Three other police officers were present in the room, one of them started the questioning after getting a signal indicating that everyone was ready.

"So, Mr Park Chenyeol, I hear you have some information for us." The officer said after he turned on the recorder

"For a correct reward...yes." Chenyeol said with a smug smile and Taehyung smirked from behind the camera.

There wasn't any new information which would be valuable to the police that Taehyung hadn't provided yet. But it's  interesting to see where Chenyeol was going with this.

"And what's the correct reward that you are expecting, Mr Park?"

"I want to be exempted from prison time, in exchange for the information that I provide."

"I see..." The officer said as he turned the pages in the file in front of him.

It carried the details about charges specified to Chenyeol and one of them were aiding and abetting three murders and multiple counts of rape. Taehyung leaned closer to the microphone which was connected to the interrogating officer's earpiece.

"Ask him why he thinks he can be exempted from jail time." Taehyung said and he could see the officer slightly nodding his head.

"Well Mr Park, according to this file, your charges are not really ones that would get an exemption like that. What makes you think you deserve it?"

"Oh come on!! I know you have nothing much on me."

Taehyung was surprised at Chenyeol's confident tone. Why is he assuming they don't have evidence of his crimes? Taehyung had personally witnessed at least one of them.

"You are being charged with aiding and abetting of three murders and multiple counts of rape, Mr Park." The officer replied in a stern voice but Chenyeol shook his head.

"That's a lie and you don't have any evidence to prove that." Chenyeol's voice was still confident.

Taehyung was quite confused now. He looked at Hoseok's face which was mirroring the same emotion. All of Jay's men were aware that a spy had infiltrated their organization. It makes no sense for Chenyeol to be this confident.

Suddenly a thought came to Taehyung's head and he quickly spoke into the microphone. "Check whether he knows  about the police agent collecting data. But don't tell him my name."

"As you must be aware by now, we already had an undercover agent in your organization, Mr Park. We have all the evidence we need." The police officer said in a cautious tone and Chenyeol snorted at that.

"That asshole wouldn't have anything on me." Chenyeol spat angrily.

The police officers in the room made gestures of being displeased with the way Chenyeol spoke. They didn't like that this bastard being disrespectful towards one of their own. But Chenyeol completely ignored that.

"And I seriously doubt he was there long enough to get details about even half of Jay's businesses." Chenyeol continued in a rather smug voice. "That's why I'm proposing this deal. I can help you with all that."

Taehyung groaned internally and ran a hand through his hair in frustration. He had guessed right it seemed. Jay's men had learnt that there was a spy amongst them and it wasn't that hard to guess who they thought it was.

A sudden gasp made Taehyung turn his head and look at Hoseok who had an open mouth.

"They think it's Jungkook.." Hoseok said in a slow voice, fully aware of the implications of that.

Taehyung picked up his phone and dialed a number. He only had to wait for a few seconds for the line to get connected.

"Hello, this is Kim Taehyung. I'm sorry for troubling you, Mr Min, but Jungkook is with you right?"

After getting confirmation that the younger one is indeed with Yoongi and they are still in Seoul, Taehyung explained about what was happening. Both agreed that Jungkook might be in danger.

After finishing the call, Taehyung abruptly turned on his heels and walked out of the room. Hoseok could already guess what the other was about to do.

Taehyung will never let Jungkook get hurt on his behalf.

"I can give you all the necessary information. All you have to do-" Chenyeol's words were cut off due to the sound of the door being opened.

"I don't think that will be necessary." Taehyung said with a smirk, totally enjoying the way Chenyeol seemed to have frozen with shock. "I think we already have all the details we need.

"V!!" Chenyeol's voice sounded muffled, as if he was choking on something.

"So tell me, Chenny, is there anything you can tell them, that I haven't done already?"

Chenyeol didn't answer as he clearly knew that he was utterly screwed. To be honest, they all had thought the spy to be Jungkook and were not that worried. He was not part of Jay's inner circle and probably did not have access to anything important.

But if the spy was V, every damn detail about, well, everything, would have been easily in his hands.

Taehyung smiled in relief as he knew that he won't have to worry about Jungkook's safety once the news spread about V being the real spy.

"Yeah." Taehyung smirked at the horrified expression of the other man. "That's what I thought."

With that, Taehyung walked out of the interrogation room while Chenyeol gently banged his own head on the table in dismay.

They were completely screwed.
