Kaeya was the cavalry captain of the knight of Favonius. But for a knight, his nature was somewhat overly flirtatious.

His love of fine wine and alcohol was something that would always leave quite an impression on anybody who would meet him.

You had worked with Kaeya in the past and honestly speaking, you weren't a fan of his methods, but you adjusted.

It was quite a warm day for winters in mondstadt, the atmosphere was warm and cozy, people huddled up near fires, while some drank tea or hot chocolate. But the streets of Mondstatd were indeed peaceful and jolly during these seasons.

Suddenly you feel cold snow hit the back of your head hard, turning around you saw Kaeya smiling mischievously as he started to mold another snowball in his hands. Bending down to your knees, you start to shape snow in your hands as you get ready to throw it at Kaeya's face, which slowly turns into a snowball war. 

four individuals burst into the tavern as the red-haired bartender lets out a sigh. the tavern was in a jolly mood. While some sang Christmas Carols, some downed multiple glasses of alcohol laughing loudly.

"One death-after noon please~," the navy-haired cavalry captain asked in a smooth voice as he slid on one of the high stools,

"What about you?" the bartender's amber red eyes were now fixated on you, sighing you order dandelion wine, you just didn't want to drink anything sweet today. And honestly, you loved the bitter and somewhat smooth taste of that wine.

Diluc excuses himself to the shelves of alcohol as he starts pouring and mixing different bottles of liquor for the two individuals. Rosaria and Venti make their way to the bar counter, as they also seat themselves on the high stools.

Diluc arrives with the drinks, placing them. Taking out a pouch of mora, you pay for the drinks.

Kaeya takes a sip of his drink while making eye contact with you. In return, you just casually pick up your glass as you take a long sip from it.

Kaeya's eyes were fixated on your throat, how your adam's apple shone in a completely different light mesmerised him. 

Venti started to laugh merrily, nudging the bottle of alcohol near your lips, "Come on!! Drink up (y/n)!. Don't be such a lightweight"

Sighing, you gently push Venti away as you make your way up to the first floor of the tavern. Taking a deep breath, you try and relax outside at the balcony of the tavern, snow had set on the top of the roofs, people huddled up near fireplaces.

People walked huddled up to each other. The door creaks open as Kaeya comes towards you with two drinks in his hand. He extends one hand to you, accepting the glass of sparkling wine, the both of you lean on the railings of the balcony silently.

Kaeya wasn't overly flirtatious anymore, he just solemnly enjoyed the silence between you two. Honestly, you liked this new side to Kaeya, but you couldn't help but find it adorable when he tried to talk to you but ended up stuttering a bit then falling silent.

"So, Mr. Cavalry Capain, This is quite new~ Not overly flirtatious anymore?"

"Heh, so (y/n)can tease too huh-?" he lets out a chuckle, 

"I just feel comfortable, it's really being comfortable with you (y/n)" he says softly, but his tone was extremely sweet.

You look over to the cavalry captain in shock, so he was just insecure all this time, was his flirtatious and confident nature just a facade? 

Had he been really suffering like this?

A million thoughts ran through your head, placing your drink on the railing you're extending your arms open facing Kaeya, you just wanted to give him the comfort that he deserved now.

Kaeya looks at you hesitant, but he gives you a close-eyed smile. It was just sad, the extreme sense of sadness.

He falls into your embrace, unable to hold his tears anymore. You comfort him telling him it's fine to cry it all out.

"You have done great Kaeya, It's okay let it all out"

I'll be here for you now

(Kaeya is one of those characters I think who is very well-written. And honestly, it's just not easy to see about his sad backstory at all. But it gets really heart-breaking later on. but I have to admit Kaeya is extremely manipulative, but this is just the result of his past. I'm not a certified lore master but it was just my opinion. hope you liked the one-shot ^^)
