"Cal......Cal?" said Doug more loudly to get their attention.

"I'm sorry my mind just kind of drifted off for a moment." they responded, startled, forcing a fake smile.

"What's going on with you lately, I feel like you're always somewhere else, everything ok?" Doug asked, looking on them gently and worried.

"Yeah....yeah fine," the said softly as they stared down at their sandwich.

"I'm not really hungry.....may I bet excused?" they asked.

"Sure hunny, I'll wrap up your sandwich for later," said Elsa, now also worried.

After Cal disappeared to their room, Doug helped Elsa with the dishes.

She let out a soft but sad sigh, "I don't know what to do....I know they're suffering...I just don't know how to make it better." She said on the verge of tears.

"I know hunny.....I know..." Doug replied as he rubbed her back supportively. "You think they're having issues with their transition?"

Elsa let out a long sigh, "I don't know.....I have noticed Izzie hasn't been around. God I hope nothing happened between them. It was so hard for Cal the last time Izzie broke up with them."

"Maybe I can take them out to for a hike this weekend. Get some fresh air," Doug pondered out loud.

"That's sweet, thank you hunny," Elsa said as she kissed his cheek and rubbed his stomach a bit as she leaned in for a hug.

Cal walked into their room and closed the door. As they made their way to the bed they pulled their shirt off and threw on a soft t-shirt instead. They tucked themselves under the blanket and let out a soft sigh.

It had been over a week since they heard from Izzie. But they couldn't understand why. They didn't do anything? At least they didn't think? But she wasn't responding to any calls or text or anything. She just....dropped off the radar. She wasn't at school either.

Cal didn't know what drove them more crazy, the constant worry or the constant anger of it all.

When they tried going to her house, no one was there. So they couldn't even tell if there was something happening with her family or what.

All they knew was that Izzie had disappeared without a word and if they were in a relationship still, Cal sure didn't feel like it they way she was acting.

But more than anything they just missed her like crazy.

After a while of feeling miserable they fell asleep listening to the mixtape playlist Izzie made for them.

Another lonely night.

A small hand moved the blanket open. After taking off her clothes Izzie slipped into the bed next to a now sleeping Cal and kissed them on the forehead. They were a really heavy sleeper and she wanted to look at them for a while before waking them up.

She looked down on the way the moonlight gently touched their face. The curves of their lips and the wisps of their short hair. Their skin smooth to her touch. Their chest moving gently up and down, like the ripples of waves.
