A/N: I wanted to give a canon one shot a try. It's not non-binary, but sometimes I just need to write and let it out. Hope it's alright. xoxo -- JA

It was a dark and cool night. Izzie felt a soft breeze but not even the cool gentle breeze could calm her nerves. She cinched in her light parka a bit but it did little to temper the cold.

She walked onward towards the track field, wondering what exactly the point was of being there. Of course she had replayed all the possibilities over and over in her mind. But even that was getting exhausting.

For better or worst she needed to speak her truth and hoped that maybe, just maybe this daring moment of courage would not have been for nothing.

As she reached the gate of the field she saw Casey running far off in the distance.

It hit her suddenly.

What am I doing? she thought.

She gulped a bit and closed her eyes tightly to will herself to move forward. And as she stepped closer to the track itself she could feel her nerves settle into the pit of her stomach.

But she marched on.

All of this effort wasn't for just anything. In fact, Izzie had decided that if there was ever a moment to settle whatever this was between her and Casey, this was the moment. She needed to release it all and let consequences settle where they may in the aftermath.

As she got closer and closer she saw Casey's outline come into full view.

There she was, off in the distance. Moving in what seemed almost like slow motion, completely unaware of the girl waiting for her just at the end, wanting to be loved.

As Casey made the final stretch she peaked in her stride and began to slow down finally to catch her breath.

Izzie took the final few steps and believed it was now or never.

"strange time to practice" Izzie said, catching her best friend off guard.

Casey, confused in the moment, still catching her breath looked in Izzie's direction, unable to speak.

"better late than never?" Izzie spoke again, moving closer towards Casey.

"I swear I'm not a stalker. I just really had to talk to you." she continued, insisting nervously.

"how'd you find me?" Casey replied softly, finally breaking the sudden tension she found herself feeling upon Izzie's surprise visit.

"do you even have to ask?" Izzie replied back, nodding her head a bit side to side as she looked onto Casey.

"Elsa tracks my phone." Casey said, softly and immediately realizing that she was finally alone again with Izzie. It terrified her. But she wanted every second of it just as much as Izzie.

"First off....." Izzie spoke now, wanting to get to the point of it all.

"....It sucks you're avoiding me......I put myself out there..... and I was honest with you and for that I get the silent treatment?" she went on, her voice now raising its pitch a bit through her nervous breath and the sudden tears she felt slowly making their way down her cheek.

"Even if you don't feel the same you can at least be there for me as a friend.....You're making me feel crazy." she said, moving her hands a bit, desperately looking at Casey.

Casey watched her quietly, taking in the look of Izzie, drowning in Izzie's words and feeling a pinch so strong within chest that it felt as though her heart could not bare one more second of inaction.

"Honestly......" Izzie continued...."If I knew.... that you were gonna be all weird and that this was gonna jeopardize our friendship, I never in a million years would've told you how I felt....... Because it is becoming incredibly clear that you don't feel the same way."

And just as Izzie barely got her last word out Casey did something she had never dreamed she could ever muster the courage to do. It was as if all the moments she had spent with Izzie came flooding through her mind in a flash of an instant dream.

And as she leaned in to interrupt Izzie's last word, she realized that she simply could not bare not knowing what Izzie's lips felt like any longer.

She needed to know. She wanted to know. And the way Izzie's beautiful face looked in that moment she could no longer wait.

She threw her hands up Izzie's neck and pulled her best friend's face into hers and pressed her lips as if the world had stopped and the only thing that could ever matter was this moment, this feeling.......her lips.....meeting Izzie's.....for a taste of the perfect everything their friendship had slowly built up to this moment.

And as Casey drew Izzie into her arms, Izzie felt herself dazed for a moment. It was as if Casey had become the perfect song and all Izzie could do was let herself press her lips harder as felt the softness of Casey's lips touching hers.....making her feel so lightheaded she could've felt the ocean waves take her in and it would still not describe the way Casey's touch felt against her body.

It was, in fact, the perfect kiss.

And Casey made sure to not let it be a quick one. In fact she pulled Izzie even closer and gently licked the bottom of Izzie's lips and pressed her mouth wantingly even more as Izzie cupped her cheeks and met her in the moment.

God, just keep kissing me. Casey thought to herself.

Don't stop touching me, not now, not ever, Izzie thought to herself.

Just then Izzie finally felt the tension between them release  from her body. It as a good feeling. A necessary feeling. She knew she couldn't just be Casey's best friend anymore. Something had sparked in them the night of their forehead promise and ever since then things had never been the same. There was a heat, a light, a magnetic pull that consumed both their minds for all the months that followed that fateful night in Casey's room.

They were finally....both...so ready.....

I want her more, I want her more, I want her more, said the voice of Izzie's body as it felt overwhelmed in Casey's energy.

I need you now, please don't stop, I have wanted this more than you could ever know, said the voice of Casey's body, now standing in the cool of her sweat as she felt her tongue press hotly inside of Izzie's mouth.

And after some time locked into their kiss, they somehow felt their bodies release from one another, just barely enough for Casey to release the first thought that came to her mind as she felt Izzie's hand move slowly down her neck and further down her her chest as they both stared at each other in a heady gaze.

"whoa," she whispered.

"yeah..." Izzie whispered back as she looked up for a moment at Casey's eyes, only to find herself looking down on Casey's lips once more.

"so..." Casey replied, this time smiling so hard as she stood holding Izzie in her arms, desperately wanting all time stop.

"...I don't know....." Izzie whispered as she moved her head side to side a bit, having no clue of what is to happen to them moving forward, but feeling far more certain and relieved that Casey, very clearly, felt the same way about her best friend.

Casey looked sweetly over Izzie's face as she held Izzie's hands in hers, their bodies still close, their cheeks erupting in smiles.

"Hungry?..she asked as she smiled, knowing Izzie all too well.

"Actually I really am...." Izzie replied with a burst of laughter, leading them both to laugh and smile, their hands still tangled up together.

As they made their way down the track to leave Izzie suddenly stopped and pulled Casey into another kiss.

"What was that for?" Casey looked down on her, smiling.

"...I just....wanted more..." Izzie replied softly as she caressed Casey's cheek with her hand, feeling bold and far more wishful at all the possibilities ahead.
