Christmas Day

"John! Sphen! Lilly! Come down! It's time," Izzie yelled from the bottom of the staircase as Cal stood next to her, their arm round her waist.

Within moments a gaggle of small children ran so quickly down the stairs they nearly stampeded right through Izzie and Cal in a flurry of excited giggles and laughter.

"I'm on wrapping paper garbage duty, aren't I," Cal whispered.

"Dam right you are," Izzie said as she rubbed Cal's back and smiled and nodded as she looked at the kids running around frantically.

"Santa came!" Sphen screeched out delighted with glee as he raced towards the tall pile just on the side of the tree that had a flag poking out from the top that said Sphen.

As John and Sphen jumped around excitedly counting how many gifts they had received, Lilly quietly and slowly walked towards her pile.

Izzie nudged Cal and motioned for them to go to her.

"Lilly hunny, these presents are all for you," Cal said softly to her as they knelt down at her side and looked her over carefully.

"I don't see bunny," she said softly and sadly, nearly in tears.

"I'm sorry hunny," Cal said as they kissed the child's forehead. "But why don't you open your presents and see if there are any surprises that Santa left you?"

Cal then took the quiet little girl's hand and gently led her to her pile of gifts and helped her pick out one.

"Open it," Cal said, their twinkling brown eyes calming the girl enough to begin slowly unwrapping it.

"bunny.." the girl said as her eyes grew wide, suddenly flooded with excitement.

She held her beloved stuffed bunny up in the air, declaring that her pal had been found for all to see.

"bunny's home!!!!" the little girl began to cry as she hugged the tender little soft toy.

"She's home!" Cal smiled ear to ear, still kneeling before the little girl as they hugged her.

As the children went on to open their gifts Cal made their way to the couch to sit next to Izzie and pulled her hand in theirs.

"Nice job you did there," Izzie whispered in their ear.

"Thank god I found it, that thing was two seconds away from the garbage truck hauling it away," they whispered back.

"you really are the best," Izzie mewed softly, relieved Cal pulled off a Christmas miracle.

"I'm so sorry your parents got stuck in that terrible storm. They should be here tomorrow," Izzie continued.

"Yeah.....it'll be nice to have them watch the kids for a bit.....I miss you," Cal said as they kissed Izzie's shoulder.

"I miss you too," Izzie said smiled warmly as the children jumped and kicked and played around with their new toys.

The Day After Christmas

"Phew! Thought we'd never get outta there!" Cal laughed as they rubbed their mittens together as they walked out of the house with Izzie.

"Did you get all of it out of John's ear?" Izzie asked.

"Yep, that's the last time we get sticky gummy play dough," Cal said laughing.

"And did you give Lilly her Bunny and Bear book and also give her bunny's cookie?" Izzie asked.

"Yep, she is all set and sitting on Elsa's lap getting read to as we speak." Cal replied.

"And did you make sure to baby proof the cabinet under the sink? You know Sphen is always trying to hide under there and always tries to eat the dish soap." Izzie asked some more.

"Yep, all set and we had a little talk about soap and cooties," Cal replied, smiling.

"omg i love you," Izzie replied as she let out a sigh of relief.

"of course you do, feel my abs," Cal said as they suddenly stopped, quickly pulled up their thick winter hoodie and grabbed Izzie's hand to rub it against their stomach.

"wow, you are really not wasting time, I think I like it," Izzie remarked as she bit her lip and enjoyed every moment of touching Cal's warm stomach.

Cal then leaned down to press a kiss to her lips and grabbed her hand, now walking quickly.

"baby the car is that way..." Izzie said as Cal dragged her towards the nature trail behind the house instead of the car.

A heavy snow had fallen so Izzie had to really move her snow boots just right to walk through it.

"don't worry, it'll just take a minute!" Cal said, beaming.

As they walked through the thick snow Izzie suddenly saw something in the distance.

"Omg is that a sleigh!?" Izzie said shocked as she now saw what looked like a sweet little old man, a beautiful horse and a bright red sleigh just up ahead.

When they finally reached it Cal took a moment to shake the little old man's hand who in turn tipped his hat at them and Izzie.

"So....what do you think?" Cal beamed.

"omg I love it!" Izzie mewed loudly as she clapped her hands happily.

Just then Cal moved the blanket that was on the seat over and helped Izzie get in. Once they were settled Cal then took out a thermos of hot chocolate and served themself and izzie a nice piping hot mug to keep her hands warm.

As the sleigh began to slowly move Izzie couldn't stop staring at Cal, her heart bursting in her chest.

"This is....amazing....you are too good to me," she said she leaned in for a long, warm and tender kiss with her beloved.

"you deserve it....you work so hard and the kids are such a handful....you're such an amazing mom and I love how you love our children....and I love how you love me....I just wanted you to have something special for once....," Cal smiled down on her.

"I love you....so much..." Izzie mewed even more softly as she looked up at Cal's eyes and lips, feeling herself caught up in a heady gaze.

"I love you too....you have got the most adorable dimples, did you know that?" Cal whispered softly back to her.

Izzie giggled just then, feeling more warm.

"And! and! your freckles are so delicious, I want to taste them," Cal continued as they started to kiss her cheeks softly, only making Izzie wither under their embrace that much more.

"babyyyyy you're gonna get me going..." Izzie giggled softly, her eyes twinkling.

Cal kissed her again and embraced her more as the sleigh ride went on, passing through the wintery valley and tall emerald pine trees.

"Merry Christmas, Izzie," Cal said as they lay their head against hers.

"Merry Christmas, Cal," Izzie replied, happier than she had ever been.
