(Your POV)

SOMEHOW, I WAS COUGHING. Was I sleeping? I coughed myself awake. "Ow..." I mutter. My chest hurts. I look around to see a hospital room and Devon in a hospital bed. Before I could ask anything, the doctor came in. "Ah, glad you two are awake." the doctor says as he walks into the room.

"W-what's going on? Why am I h-here?" I managed to stutter out. Since our beds were pretty close to each other, I felt Devon rest his hand on my shoulder. I'm shaking, why is this happening to me? How did I even get here?

"There was a fire at the-" I cut the doctor off.

"Where's Junior? Is he okay? I need to talk to him.. please?" my voice broke as I tried to speak. I started coughing right after I spoke. I groan after the coughing stopped and leaned back in my hospital bed. "You should rest your voice, Ms. Evans. That smoke really damaged your lungs."

My face scrunched at what he had called me. "Oh uh, (y/n) doesn't like when people call them 'Ms. Evans'. It annoys them." Devon spoke up for me before I could.

"My apologies. I'll check on you two later, okay?" The doctor says before leaving. I sigh and relax in my bed. The doctor had brought food for us but we had only eaten the food and left the drink. We hear a knock on the door. "Come in." Devon says.

As soon as Devon had finished his sentence, our mother had came in. "shit" I mutter under my breathe as she walks to the foot of our beds. She looks around and sighs. "You guys ok?" she asks us.

She tried to maintain a mutual face but failed. She looked scared. I've never seen her this way since Dad died. She sighs again. "We're good, but my chest hurts though." I mumble the last part. She points to the drink we had.

"Make sure to drink this" she had told us. We both grabbed it and took a few sips. She gave us both kisses on the forehead. "Do you guys know what happened to Oliver Hayden?" She asks, extremely concerned.

"No? Did he die.. you know.. in the fire?" I answer back to her. It's rare she talks about work with us. The only time she does it's just questions about the murders that had happened recently. "No, it turns out he was stabbed to death." Devon and I looked at each other, shocked out of our minds.

"I had just spoken with his parents before I came in here. Please tell me you both had nothing to do with this." she wanted us to be truthful with her. I mean, nothing can get passed her. She's a detective for crying out loud. "I don't even like Oliver. I barely even wanted to be near him." I explained to her.

Devon nodded showing he agreed with me. "Was Jake.. at the party?"

"No, just Junior." Devon answered quickly.

"Alright, lovebugs. I'll let you guys rest" she soon leaves and Devon and I relax.

We look outside to see Jake. He didn't even notice me, but noticed Devon. Why is he just ignoring me like this? The doctor soon comes in with his clipboard and looks at us. "I have news for you both. Good and bad. Which would you like to hear first?" he asks as he writes something down on his clipboard.

Me and Devon looked at each other then back at the doctor. "Uh, bad news first, please?" I answer back to the doctor.

"Alright. The bad news is (y/n)'s condition had gotten worse.." As the doctor explains, my face had slowly dropped into a frown. Dev looked at me as tears started to stain my eyes. I try my best to hold them back. "The good news is Devon will be discharged later today." My face dropped more.

How did my condition get worse? Am I even going to live after this? I should have never went to that party. I didn't even have the chance to give Junior my number. Is it too late? The doctor checks the time on his watch. "Actually, your discharge is supposed to be right now." He realized.

Devon starts to get up. "I'm so sorry (y/n)." He says before leaving. That's when I decided to sleep it off.
