Lydia and I went outside for a bit to go on her swing set. She was talking about how she was going to get married to a Prince, and live in a sugar plum castle.
I chuckled at her dream.
The young ones always have the best imagination.
"Lydia, sweetie! It's almost time for lunch." I heard Lydia's mom, Tracey shout from the back porch gazing at Lydia with her brown eyes and swaying light brown hair."Okay mommy but I'm still with Haz." Lydia answered back.
"Well Haz can come in with you I'm sure she's hungry too."
"It's a he mommy."
Lydia's mother closed the door and Lydia got off the swing to go inside.
"Come with me haz." she said looking behind her.
I tagged along to go inside and stood next to her in the kitchen observing her surroundings."Mommy thank you for the chicken nuggets and Mac and cheese." She smiled.
"Your welcome sweetie. So does Haz want some food too?"
"No. Haz doesn't eat. He doesn't have a working tummy."
"Then how does he get nutrition?"
"I don't know, why don't you ask Haz?"
I smiled at her response and laughed.
As Lydia's mother finished washing the dishes her guardian angel appeared.
Her guardian angel is named Luke. Luke and I are friends.
He usually shows up when something bad is going to happen so he can stop it.
"You see that knife next to Tracey?" He asked me.
"Yea. I do." I responded.
"Well that's about to stab her in the stomach. Make a distraction so I can move it."
I made one of the forks drop so Luke can move the knife in the sink.
"Oh geez I'm such a cults." Tracey said picking up the fork.
"Thanks Harry. I'll see you in a few." he said flying up to go back to heaven. You would think Luke would stay with Tracey 24/7 like I do with Lydia. But as people grow up their imagination fades, and their sense of understanding gets more sophisticated. As people grow older the connection between human and angel thins out. If it grows to be where we can't connect because they won't let us is a huge problem.
In the past I watched over this boy named Paris. He stopped letting his imagination run wild and our connection faded. Till one day I knew he was going to get into a car accident. I went in five minutes before I knew the crash was going to happen. I tried to turn his car but the connection between me and him was lost a long time before I could help him. He died from the crash.
I lost my wings but gained them back because Paris forgave me and in addition I did many things to help out other angels.
Now Paris has his wings and is the guardian angel of a old man named Brent.
But ever since that incident I try to fix the problem before I loose another person.
"Mommy I'm all finished." Lydia wiped her mouth with her arm.
Luke reappeared and stood in the back of Tracey.
"Oh I'll get it for you baby." she stumbled on the broom but Luke held her back so she wouldn't fall. "whoo that was a close one."
Luke winked and quickly flew back up.
I love my job.
