"Why do you hate me so much?" The teen asked, his voice filled with curiosity and a hint of pain. The woman beside him chuckled, a bittersweet sound that conveyed the weight of their shared history. Memories of their previous encounters flooded her thoughts, reminding her of the painful moments she had through.

"I'm sorry, Mr. and Mrs. L/n, but you have lost the baby." The doctor's words struck like a devastating blow, leaving behind a trail of devastation, guilt, and sorrow. Despite your overpowering feelings, you both chose to keep your heads held high. You went on with your lives, ready to find consolation and start your own family. Toji desired redemption, a chance to prove himself to the clan that had regarded him as weak. He wanted to demonstrate to them that he could protect those he cared about with all his heart.

And then he found you. In his eyes, Toji saw perfection. Your personality was a breath of fresh air, free from hatred or judgment towards him and his perceived shortcomings as a sorcerer. You treated him with kindness and acceptance, as if he were just like anyone else. He cherished that. You, who were not particularly inclined toward the idea of a family, began to envision a life spent raising children with Toji. It seemed like paradise to you. With your high rank as a grade 1 sorcerer and wise financial decisions, you were financially secure and ready for such a commitment. But, as life so often proves, fairness was never its strong suit.

You both tried and tried, putting in endless effort, until the weight became unbearable. Divorce papers were signed, rings were removed, and Toji returned to his original last name, Zenin. He settled into a decent apartment, living a solitary life until he eventually married a woman named Fushiguro. "I still love you," he began, his voice filled with regret, but you cut him off with a mixture of anger and hurt. "She can give you the family you desire, I understand. But you didn't have to invite me." You got up and left the cafe where your paths had first crossed. Toji sighed, his tears hidden, for he loved you more than he could ever love her. All he desired was the opportunity to redeem himself by raising a family and demonstrating that his lack of cursed energy did not define his strength.

"I don't hate you, kid," you assured the teen, averting your gaze and swallowing your pride. You were desperate to express the depth of your emotions, to fully explain yourself. The youngster on the other side of the couch looked at you in surprise as you struggled to find the proper words. He had no idea the extent of his biological father's devastation. "I was his first wife," you continued, the memories resurfacing, "he took my last name, we shared a bed, and we dreamed of having a family together... But I couldn't give him one" Your voice died off as you met the young man's eyes, which were the same emerald green as his father's. You unknowingly massaged your tummy softly, which he didn't notice. As you grieved, tears welled up in your eyes as you realized you hadn't completely moved on from the hurt. Now you were teaching at Jujutsu High, face to face with the son of the guy you had dearly loved. Megumi, feeling the weight of your sorrow, wrapped his arms around you, offering comfort through his touch. "He loved me more than your mother, but he yearned for a biological family. That's why your name is Megumi..." Your voice trembled as you choked out the words, "You're
the blessing I could never give him."

Megumi felt a wave of guilt wash over him. Until now, he had viewed his father as nothing more than a neglectful drunkard who cared little for him or his older sister. But listening to his teacher, a strong and independent woman, speak about her father with such raw emotion shattered his preconceptions. The knowledge that his father had left behind a broken woman who could have been his mother filled him with anger. Clenching his right hand, he fought to contain his emotions.

"That's ridiculous. He blamed you for not being able to conceive?" Megumi asserted, his voice trembling. He took a deep breath and continued, "I never had the chance to meet him or my biological mother. My stepmother wasn't the best, and if I'm being honest..." Megumi tightened his embrace around you, offering unwavering support. "You have been the mother figure I've always had. You took care of me and Tsumiki. Both of us are the blessings you could have ever wished for." Tears streamed down your face as you clung to him, your sobs muffled against his shoulder. "So please, don't waste your tears on an idiotic dead man like him."
