Chapter 9

Jake's POV

I wake up to the smell of waffles coming from downstairs.

I open my eyes and see that y/n is still asleep next to me.

Mom started waking everyone up so I woke up y/n

"Hey wake up." I said poking her side

She started to laugh and sat up so I would stop

"Morning"she said wiping the sleep from her eyes

We got up and went are separate ways to go get ready for the day

When we all met back up in Mom and Dads room

"Where's Dad?"Mark asked Mom

"He went to the game."She said putting the pillows back in there place on her bed

"Why didn't he ask us to go?"questioned Mike

"Because..he didn't want you to be there on the day that he quits his job."

"He's quitting his job?"Kim asked astonished

"Mm-hmm."

"What would we have to do so he wouldn't quit"I asked beginning to worry

"I'll give up clarinet lessons" Henry said

"I'll totally go back to hand-me-downs."Lorraine said next

Then everyone started volunteering things they were willing to give up

"Okay, ease up. Everybody listen. Dad's an big boy, and he makes his own decisions and he is doing this because it's what he wants."

"In that case I totally take back what I said about the hand-me-downs." Lorraine said

"I thought so. Anybody else wanna take back there offer?"

Everyone raised their hands immediately. Causing mom to laugh

Time skips

We all walked onto the field with the signs that say we love the coach to surprise Dad

He was in the middle of the field looking around when he noticed all of us

He signaled for us to come over so I grabbed y/n hand so she wouldn't feel left out and ran towards him we all had a big group hug in the middle of the field.

We weren't the perfect family but we are the Bakers and that's all that mattered

A couple months later

It is finally Christmas and we are all gathered around the table y/n is still living with us and I am finally going to tell her that I like her more than just a friend

She got up to go to the kitchen and I followed her

Now this wouldn't be truly a baker set up without a plan

But I didn't know what it was because Lorraine set it up which is scaring me.

When I got into the kitchen I saw mistletoe hanging up which I'm assuming was Lorraines part in this

I see y/n put her dish in the sink and called her over towards the mistletoe

"Hey y/n can you come here really quickly"

"Sure one second"she said while her drying hands

As she came closer she I started to get nervous but I wasn't going to let myself back out now

"Ok well y/n I just wanted to tell you that..."

"Ummmm.."

"Well you see..."

"I-

"I kinda really like you like a lot and I mean as in more than just friends and I understand if you don't fell the same cause we haven't known each other very long and are young but I still like you—

"JAKE"  she saids I over my ranting voice

"I didn't get all of that because you were talking to fast but the words i like you stuck out"

"is that what you were trying to tell me."

"Maybe"I said stepping back a bit

"I like you too Jake."

I look up at her to make sure she was telling the truth but she was looking up at the mistletoe that we where now right under. 

We both looked at each other and leaned in

But we stopped getting closer when we heard something

There was a creak and a loud crash came from the front hall

we ran to see what happened

The chandelier had fallen.....again

"Great timing" I muttered under my breath annoyed

I heard a laugh from behind me but before I could comprehend what was happening I was being pulled back under the mistletoe.

Where it happened y/n and I finally had are first kiss

Trust me it wasn't anything gross it was more of like A peck on the lips but that was fine with me.

I hugged her after and walked back into the living room where everyone was seated like nothing happened

Except it was obvious what happened because I was smiling ear to ear and y/n's cheeks were red.

Once we where back and comfortable y/n and I held hands under the table till we had to go are separate ways.

When I got up to my room there was a knock on my door I opened it to see Charlie standing there

"Y'all kissed didn't you." he said before I could even say hello

I pulled him into my room and closed the door

"Did you have to say that in the middle of the hallway." I asked annoyed but still happy about the kiss

"You didn't deny it so I am guessing y'all did."he said with a stupid smirk on his face

"Yes we did." I said quietly

"What was that." he said mockingly

"You heard what" I said

"I knew y'all were a thing." He laughed

"Nice job sport he said ruffling my hair."

"Okay okay good night." I said pushing him out the door

As I finally got him out I saw y/n and Sarah pushing Lorraine out of there room.

Only for Charlie and Lorraine to look at each other and yell really loudly

"GOODNIGHT LOVE BIRDS"

causing everyone to come out of there bed rooms to see what was going on

Y/n's POV

Of course they had to do that

Everyone was in the hall now except for the Baker parents....thank goodness

But it was clear who Charlie and Lorraine where yelling about because Jake and I were blushing like crazy

This is my life now

And I am perfect fine with that.
