Chapter 4: Majo no gyanbitto (witch's gambit)

"Ah, the manipulator has grown violent."

The crocuses and daffodils had begun to bloom in the late winter of February. The refined blossom of the iris and partially misty air setting the backdrop.

The morning air is so serene, I almost feel bad for beating Aryan up this early.

February the first, two years from when I met Aryan at the school garden. We had bonded instantly, I finally found someone who I could share anything with, and who shared their loneliness with me.

When she caught sight of her first 'beloved' was when our little meetings in the school garden became a rant session for her.

The dirty blonde walked up to the ruins in its pre-spring state, with her wand readied, and hair tied in a bun, the glint that scared the living daylights out of me seen clearly in her eyes.

Taking a deep breath and swallowing my fears, I walked forward to meet her.

"I never thought the day when I fought a duel with you would come, honestly, I'm quite excited."

Aryan tossed the note I had sent as an invitation back to me, and I used the wind to carry it fully, before crushing it into a paper ball. I looked straight at her, trying to intimidate her in any way I could, but she smirked back and crossed her arms, waiting for me to take the first move.

However, as soon as I opened my mouth to speak, she interjected, taunting me.

"How bold of you to call me, who do you think you're dealing with? Alexandra, look, I only have one thing to say, stay out of my way or you'll regret it, okay?"

It seems she's hesitating in her fight against me...

"I already have Diana, and Atsko's given up on her. So, this is really of no use. You need to act smart not work hard, little flower."

Taking I deep breath, I countered her words, pacing myself the best I could. "Is that really all you have? Well than beating you will be fun. It seems more like that you don't know your place. You really are a novice if I could know in a day that was you, and kill so many just for one? Really, is that of use?"

Her eyes had narrowed on me, so it seems she got the hint that I wasn't here to beg for mercy.

"Oh, so that's how you roll now- but still, I wonder, who taught you all you know about stalking, or murder? I'm well known here; people don't care about you. Let's see who believes a nobody, mind you."

Gritting my teeth, I prepared to retaliate with my own string of words.

"You aren't the talented one, you just have your 'pretty' face. Plus, don't act like you're perfect, you've made so many mistakes. You've never looked to see who's watching closely from behind. Acting quickly but brashly, you really think that's fine? With all the slips you've let and the many clues you've given, you really think others will let you off, mistaken?"

She was visibly mad now and getting aggressive. Aryan was gripping her wand even tighter now, and the veins on her hands clenched were showing.

It feels nice, having the upper hand again~

"Flower, I know I got you mad but is this really what you want?"

"To have dominance over you? Please, I've dreamt of that since day one."

You're not the manipulator here, Aryan, know that.

"St-stop standing between me and my love, I'll kill you if you do."
