Sirius Black

Godrics Hallow

October 31, 1981

Something was wrong.

Something was wrong and Sirius could feel it, he just didn't know what.

Wormtail. Wasn't Peter supposed to write today?

He was supposed to update him on Lily, Harry and James.

Maybe I'll go for a ride... Go see Peter... maybe that will help...

He mounted his infamous magic motorbike and his anxiety ebbed slightly. The bike never failed to calm him.

It was probably easier to apparate, but Sirius always preferred to drive, the cold wind soothing.

His thoughts turned to Remus. Moony. He was all alone tonight, on the full moon, and Sirius yearned to be with him but Remus was suspected to be the spy. Was he the spy though? Or was he innocent? Could they ever fix the marauders after the war, or would one of them actually be a traitor?

And it clicked.

Remus was not the traitor, Peter was. Something was going to happen to James and Lily tonight. Something terrible.

Changing his travel course, knowing that he most likely wouldn't find Peter at his hideout, he headed to Godric's Hollow.

His heart sank as a bright green glow filled the Potter's residence as he neared it. He heard a scream, Lily's scream.

'Lily! James! Lily!' Sirius cried as he tumbled off the bike and ran into the house.

James. James was dead. Dead.

Tears filled Sirius' eyes as he saw James dead upon the floor. His friend, his fellow marauder, his brother, was dead. Snapping out of his near breakdown, Sirius heard a scream echo from upstairs. Lily.

Green light filled the house again and Sirius realised Lily must have fallen. Staggering upstairs as fast as he could, Sirius stopped when another green light filled the house, but this was different. Instead of a quick flash, it flickered, then exploded, blasting Sirius backwards. An inhuman shriek echoed the house, one that went on and on and caused Sirius to cover his ears.

Stepping into the room, Sirius saw the shadow of something flitter out through the window and then his eyes fell on Harry. Harry who was miraculously still alive, and crying loudly at the sight of his dead mother.

'Harry...' He murmured, moving to pick his godson up. A slash like a bolt of lightning was on Harry's forehead, but other than that he seemed relatively okay. The scar would be the only sign of the curse that killed his parents, the curse that almost killed him.

'James, Lily... Oh, Peter, what have you done?' Sirius whispered softly, 'And Remus... we all thought-' but Sirius stopped abruptly. They hadn't told Remus about the swap. Remus would think he was the one who told Voldemort the whereabouts of their friends. Sirius would be charged with their murder.
