Here are all the races to choose from! Be as creative and diverse as you want, but try to keep with the general characteristics of the race. Some races only have a certain amount of slots because they are generally more scarce. Each race has a representative of that race in the council. Be as diverse as you want! but when you make your character try to take into consideration the race you choose and its culture, as well as their social and economic standing (for example, if you have a cyborg, you're most definitely starving)•°•°•°•°•
•°Fairy°•
Fairies come in all different shapes and sizes, most are the size of an average person but some, known as dwarf fairies, are only a bit bigger than pixies. It's extremely popular for people to use dwarf fairies as familiars, given their size and general cute appearance and tame nature. Fairies are extremely well known for their elegance and beauty and are highly respected (which is why owning one is such a big deal) amongst Mystique's, opposite of their cousin race the pixies, fairies are mature and beloved by many! Most likely one of the favorite races, fairies have a great reputation and many opportunities available to them.
General appearance: Fairies all have iridescent wings, and are typically very bright and vivid in appearance.
Pros: Opportunities, beloved race, highly desirable as familiars.
Cons: In danger due to the fact their wings are desirable on the "Key, Lock and Chain", stereotypically a conceded race, despite having wings they cannot fly.•°Elf °•
Elves have the most diversity amongst the Mystique races aside from Shifters. There are no specific stereotypes or facts for these lovely creatures. There are many Elvin villages, and they are an extremely populated race. They live longer than the average lifespan, and some, known as Elder Elves, have lived as long as 300 years. The typical elf will probably only live to around 100.
General Appearance: The only thing ALL elves have in common is their unmistakably pointy ears! Elves are also known to have very long and thick hair but that's merely a style choice.
Pros: Lots of diversity, cute ears, highly populated, no racial expectations, inherited wisdom, log lives.
Cons: Many are taken for the "Key Lock and Chain" due to their desirable ears, lack of rarity due to high population, don't particularly stand out unless they're an elder elf.•°Shifter°•
Shifters are a half-human half-animal race. They have the ability to shift between one specific animal, human, and anywhere in between. They are a very large and prosperous race that is known to have the qualities and attributes of their spirit animal, smell-sight-hearing etc. This can also include stereotyped characteristics of their animal (for example, if someone is a dog shifter, they'll typically be loyal and easily pleased). While their ability to shift between animals isn't really considered a power, it's the closest thing you'll find to it in the modernized Mystiques. Shifters are a very common Familiar because of their pet-like appearance and qualities. Depending on their animal, they will also have enhanced physical abilities that increase their chances of getting hired as a familiar.
General Appearance: Most all shifters usually stay in a transparent form of their animal, like ears, tail, etc. But some choose to do so much as shifting their entire lower body into their spirit animal (cough cough centaurs??), or some choose not to have any appearance of their spirit animal at all. Aside from this, there are no other physical characteristics.
Pros: The most sought after familiar, they posses the closest thing to magical abilities (heightened senses and or skills), can shift into a freaking animal yo
Cons: The council feels threatened by their abilities and due to this they have a target on their back. It's not a huge thing, but The Council will find reasons if they feel that someone has too much power. It should also be noted that your abilities are sort of dependent on your animal, but in all cases, your character will likely be faster, or stronger, better sense of hearing, etc.
