Your Point Of View.

Waitressing was never in my plans to make extra money, but I learned to adapt. I had been a waitress at this diner for over a year now while I went to college. It helped with everything I needed, and the owners helped out with my schedule so I was able to make it to my classes, study, and make money. They were the sweetest people. They lost their daughter two years ago, and I knew I filled a spot as a surrogate daughter for them. But, they also filled in as surrogate grandparents. I was a mom to a 6-month-old little girl who was the spitting image of her father. But, he didn't know about her. I kept her a secret from him. I know that was wrong but things weren't going to work out for us. I knew they weren't.

At the time I got pregnant, I was with Jack Harlow. Yes. The Jack Harlow. Our relationship had been a secret for years. We grew up together, and we saw each other through everything. We started dating our senior year of high school which was over 3 years ago. Jack understood why I wanted to be kept a secret and he was completely okay with that. But, when his career began taking off and he was in the spotlight, I found out I was 2 months pregnant. Rather tell Jack, I left and never returned. I decided he didn't need the extra baggage or the extra stress. Yes, having a baby, going to college, and working as a waitress were stressful but I wouldn't trade Elaine Grace for anything.

It was mid-week, and I had finished my mid-terms, so I wasn't due back to college till January. I was working extra hours with the new waitress Riley. She also had a daughter who was only two months older than Elaine. So, we became fast friends. We planned on getting an apartment together when we saved enough money because her parents weren't too keen on her becoming a young mom but they learned to adapt, which was more than my parents did.

I was sitting at the counter on my phone, the diner was dead and I hope some type of rush hit soon but I knew we wouldn't get that lucky. Riley was snoozing in one of the booths and our cook Adam was outside on a smoke break. I was about to cave and snooze in a booth when the bell to the door rang, and loud laughter piled through the door. Riley instantly woke up seeing the small crowd of men piling through the door, I let my eyes fall on the crowd and I felt my blood run cold.

Jack Harlow.

I quickly looked down, hoping he didn't see my face. Riley let out a greeting as the group took the booth right behind me. Riley approached me, concern filling in her green eyes.

"You okay?" She questioned as she leaned in.

"Uhh, not really. I'll let you have that table. My daughter's father is in that group." I whispered, so my voice wouldn't be heard.

Riley's eyes popped out of her head as she looked at the group, spotting Jack. She looked at Elaine's picture on my lock screen before looking at Jack once more.

"He's your daughter's father... Girl... He didn't you with his handprints, he left you with a baby." Riley made a joke that had me laughing with her.

"But, seriously, I'll take the table don't worry. Hopefully, they leave a good tip." Riley smiled before she approached the table with her usual perky mood.

I let out a huge breath as I felt a sigh of relief but life decided to have different plans when my babysitter walked through the door with Elaine asleep in her car seat and her diaper bag. I quickly moved out of the seat and headed for Cara. I took Elaine from her as she had swollen eyes that were red-rimmed from crying.
