I lied. I am absolutely shitfaced.I can barely see clearly as I stumble around this random ass party, looking for Luke after I went to go pee for what seemed like the one hundredth time tonight.
I run into a large body, the familiar hands gripping my arms to stabilize me.
"There you are," Luke breathes out, "fucking christ."
I laugh as Luke holds me up, I then shove him away and attempt to run away, "gotta catch me!" I giggle as Luke curses under his breath following me as I stumble around people dancing.
I spot Calum standing in a doorway, drinking from a solo cup and examining the party. I run up to him and hide behind his body in attempt to get away from Luke.
"Hi there," Calum laughs, letting me press my face into his warm back. He smells like cigarettes and cologne.
I want a cigarette.
I pull my cigarettes and lighter out of my pocket and light one, the taste of the menthol tobacco grounding me from the alcohol.
"Hi Calum, have you seen Devyn?" I hear Luke's voice ask.
"Nope, haven't," Calum says back.
I giggle.
"Hm, could've sworn she came this way..." Luke trails off.
"Haven't seen her mate." Calum replies.
I giggle again.
"Hmm...maybe she went outside to smoke a cigarette." Luke says, tauntingly, oh shit. The smoke! He can see the smoke!
In a panic, I take the cigarette from my mouth and reach around to shove it into Calum's, to make it look like he was smoking the whole time and the smoke was coming from him.
Calum coughs at the sudden action, I whisper a "sorry" from behind him.
I hear Luke chuckle, I hear Luke step closer to Calum and peer around his shoulder, I shove my face into Calum's back.
If I can't see him, he can't see me.
"Hm, I guess I'll go check..." Luke says. I giggle again and remove my face from Calum's back.
"Boo!" I say, I got him so good.
"Oh my god! Dev! I could have never guessed!" Luke says, surprised.
"Gotcha!" I say to him.
Luke rolls his eyes and takes my hand, lacing our fingers together, he brings me out to the very large backyard outside of this house, LED lights surrounding the area and lighting up the pool.
Once he closes the back door, the background music changes from upbeat, club like music to a slower song, Best Part by Daniel Caesar.
I look at Luke, his blue eyes illuminating in the moonlight, he pulls me closer to him and starts to dance with me, though I'm stumbling a bit.

FanfictionI can't believe I tried to convince myself that I didn't miss him, and that I didn't need him. I keep coming back though, against my judgement, because in the back of my head I feel like I shouldn't be doing this, that it's bad for me. But I still...
