It has been months after grandmother died. Wen Bing and Sang Tian were preparing for their finals so were mostly busy, occasionally going on study dates and practising whenever the ice rink was free. Min Li, who had returned to New York, had surprisingly returned, which earned her suspicious glances from Wen Bing. She brushed the matter off by saying she had work to do in Qianbei, but her mysterious smirk told a different story to Wen Bing.
"I am telling you clearly mom, don't do anything to separate me and Sang Tian again."
Min Li laughed at her son's unexpected foolishness.
"I didn't know you had this much trust issues."
Well, he did not have time to brood over his mom's incomprehensible behaviour. But his suspicion arose again when he saw Sang Tian and his mom frequenting visits.
"Something is definitely fishy." He thought. He tried to follow Sang Tian in the office but was stopped by Secretary Jin. He eyed her in suspicion and left.
"Chairman, Young Master Wen had been here."
Min Li smiled. "Don't let him enter unless I tell you."
Secretary Jin bowed and left. Min Li turned to Sang Tian.
"Looks like he cares for you way too much."
"Mom, don't tell him this was my idea. Please."
"Why? Are you afraid that he will no longer be able to contain himself?"
Sang Tian blushed.
"I was kidding." Min Li took hold of Sang Tian's hand. "Sang Tian....thank you. Thank you for loving and taking care of my son. I could never be a good mother to him. I didn't even know how lonely he was. Thankfully, you made his life colourful again. Please, don't ever leave this family. Don't ever leave him."
"Mom, not even in my wildest dreams can I think of leaving him. Don't worry."
Min Li smiled.
"Okay then. Do whatever you want to do. You have my full support. Feel free to ask for help anytime. Jiayou!"
"Thank you mom!"
Min Li sighed at the retreating figure of an excited Sang Tian.
The time is near. She thought.
Wen Bing returned to his studio to ease his mind from all the schoolwork by drawing when he saw half of his drawings not there. He quickly called out to his uncle.
"Cheng Min Jun! Come here."
Min Jun, who was on the other room, scurried towards Wen Bing.
"What?"
"Where are the rest of my paintings?" He demanded.
Min Jun stuttered. "Paintings..uhh..actually..erm..uh...ummm the paintings..."
"Answer me honestly uncle. Why are you all behaving so weirdly? What exactly are you all trying to hide from me?"
Min Jun gave a nervous laugh.
"Nothing. There is nothing weird going on. And..uh...the paintings. I thought it was taking up space in the studio so I transferred it somewhere else. Don't worry, they are perfectly safe. You just have to continue drawing new ones so that we will be- uh- we will be able to appreciate your talent."
"Huh!" Wen Bing could not process anything that was going on. "What do you mean-"
Ting.
Min Jun looked at the fresh new notification that popped on his phone screen.
"Uh, my dear nephew, don't think too much, okay. Just concentrate in bettering yourself. I have an important work to do now. Keep painting beautiful pictures. Jiayou!"
Min Jun nearly ran out of the studio and heaved a sigh of relief. "It's really difficult to tackle that son of a gun."
"Bing Bing."
Wen Bing took his eyes off his new painting and stared shell-shocked at the new visitor in his studio.
"Mom!" He exclaimed in utter disbelief. "Why are you here?"
"Why? Am I not allowed here?"
"No no, that's not what I meant. I mean...why?"
Min Li smiled. "I, the evil mother of the future president of the Wen group, have come to surprise both my son and my to be daughter-in-law."
"Uh?"
"Wen Bing, I advise you not to investigate Sang Tian's action now. Just believe her, okay?"
Wen Bing was stunned for a moment before asking. "Wait, that means you know what is going on?"
Min Li nodded. "Believe me, it's nothing serious. Sang Tian is fine. But..." She smiled. "If you really want to care for her, I can give you an advice."
Wen Bing raised an eyebrow. "What is that?"
Min Li came closer and held her son's hands.
"Well, I am not sure if I am intruding. I am just reminding you and giving you my suggestion. The rest is up to you. Uh..well...I was thinking....both of you are graduating soon. You have to start taking over the company. Then, what are your future plans?"
Wen Bing stared at his mother for a long time before he finally answered. "I will still play ice-hockey, I may play in national level also."
"Well, that's alright. Actually, I was asking about...your marriage."
"Sang Tian, you called me."
Min Jun approached the table in the cafe where Sang Tian sat.
"Hello uncle! Please be seated." She gave a wide smile when he sat down.
"I was thinking whether these paintings will be good for the exhibition or not. You know I am not into paintings much, please help me." She handed him a stack of papers.
"Oh sure! That brat almost caught me off guard. Phew! It's so difficult to hide anything from him. You two spend so much time together. How do you even manage to conceal this from him?"
Sang Tian chuckled. "Because I am doing it for him. He once told me that he had a wish to hold a portrait exhibition. He even asked for my help. Uncle, you just have to conceal the plans from him for a short time. Please do it for us."
These two. They can make anyone envious with their affections which seems to grow over time rather than diminish. Min Jun smiled to himself.
"Sure. Oh, by the way, when will the exhibition be held? I have to fix the venue accordingly."
Sang Tian smiled. "The day of our graduation ceremony."
