"I'm telling you, dude jumped from cool to a whole ass in under a minute." Elodie said to Damien as she took her head, grabbing a snack before heading off two her job hunt. "I think Dad was right. Sounds like someones who's scared to me." Damien said with a shrug. "Or just full of himself, thinkin' his cherrioes is in a bigger bowl than they really is." Elodie hummed.
Damien chuckled, "how's David?" Damien asked, Elodie shrugged, "he sounds alright on the phone....but I can feel it, he isn't happy with none of this." She sighed, kicking the tip of her shoe at the tiles of the kitchen. "and I'm trying to stay up beat but...I feel like shit living him behind like that. Just cause I couldn't take a few bad memories." She confessed.
"El, losing your best friend, your house, and nearly getting swept away yourself - that isn't a few bad memories. That's a whole lot." Damien said carefully. Elodie tried to blink the tears out of her eyes. "yeah well.... let's talk about something else. I can't cry off all my make-up before I go in for my interviews." She sniffled.
"um...right. Where are you applying for?" He asked.
"I sent a resume explaining my situation to a few places I remembered from when I used to come visit on the holidays. The record store, The Laundry Mat, the corner market, Beck's Burgers, The Thrift shop and the pawnshop." said Elodie. "You know you don't have to get a job right? Dads fine with you staying here," said Damien. Elodie gave him a smile, "I'm used to having my own. I've been working since I was 8 and had an Ice Tea stand." she giggled.
After rinsing her plate and putting it in the dishwasher, Elodie grabbed her purse and headed for the door. "Alright, I'm out. I should be home before dark - or I'll call if they have me start today. Fingers crossed!" Elodie called to Damien. "You sure you don't want me to come with you?" he asked.
Elodie laughed softly, "Please, who you gonna scare?" she asked him with a smirk. "I'm good, I'll see you," she said again, stepping out the door.

"Yeah, babe I got it!" Elodie said into her cellphone as she leaned against the pawnshop counter. "out there a day and already working, go get that cash then." David teased. Elodie giggled, "It's not all that. The place is kinda boring really. I've been here all of 15 minutes and not a soul has come in. Apparently, the owner is a fan of my Uncle and they grew up together. So I might have lucked out." said Elodie.
"Luck is welcomed." said David, he then laughed, "But won't be the reason you get fired. I'll talk to you later, El. Love you." He said. "Love you too, D." she said before they each hung up the line. As they did so the door chimed, "hello, let me know if there is anything I can help you with." Elodie said as two people walked inside.
Elodie walked around the shop putting misplaced items back in thier proper places with her earbuds in. she boped from here to there, the sun was starting to set and her shift would be over soon. Picking up the broom she started to sweep the floors and tidy.
