I sat with my friends, music playing softly in the background while they laughed. I was worried, and had been all day. I had accidentally eavsdropped on a conversation between Smith and The King. Smith had said he had spotted some barbarians nearby his shop talking with a The Sorcerer's minions. The minions were no big deal and we could easily take care of them, they had even been popping up less and less. But if the Sorcerer himself came.....there's no telling what he may do. Now, we find minions around all the time, but they never really say anything before they die, they're meaningless puppets. So the fact that Smith said he saw some TALKING to our public enemy number one? Terrifying. The Barbarians had been trying to take over for years and continued to fail miserably. They aren't strong enough to get through the outer walls of the castle but they did set up a fort.
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, hoping that the feeling would blow over in a couple days. Nothing would happen and everyone would be fine. The door to the leisure room burst open behind me. I looked over my shoulder and saw a bloody gray knight like myself collapse to the ground, blood covering his hand and chest with a crimson red arrow sticking out of his shoulder. I got up immediately, picking up my sword and running over to him.
"Wh-what happened?!" I stuttered out, trying to help him up.
I stumbled back when I noticed the arrow glowing with the dark purple and red energy of The Sorcerer's magic. Behind my helm my jaw dropped and I sat barely yards away from a knight that I'd never even gotten to know. I snapped back to reality when I heard the sound of pain and anguish echoed from the throne room. I got to my feet, grabbing my sword and shield and sprinting into the thrown room, stopping dead in my tracks as I saw the bodies of my fellow knights thrown around the room. The Sorcerer was levitating quickly away on The King's Crystal that had blessed a certain four knights with the powers of the elements. If The Sorcerer kept it from us for too long, nobody would be here to take the place of The Four when they perish.
"AFTER HIM!" The King yelled from his thrown.
I took a step forward and was knocked down by the force of someone running into me.
"S-sorry!" The Orange Knight blurted as The Four blazed past me, all of them glowing with the power of fire, ice, electricity, and poison.
I got up slowly, watching them go. I had a job but it wasn't what The King had assigned to them. My job was to fend off any intruders. A fire lit inside of me. Maybe I could help The Four?
I nodded to myself and ran off after them. I needed to help somehow.
