I walked through a shadowy land, hard rock beneath me and my boots scuffing up some loose dirt. I could barely see a yard in front of me, there was mysterious whispers and large crashes of rock against rock. Something large rolled by my left and I reached for my sword, swinging towards it and my sword bouncing harmlessly off it. I pulled back and realized it was as solid as rock and rolling downhill, a boulder perhaps?
I looked down, embarrassed and then the feeling faded. I had seen it. My sword was not my sword, it was a long black silver blade that seemed unbreakable. I lifted the sword closer to my face for a better look. It was a beautiful, strong blade, without a single scratch. I smirked a little, it certainly was a nice sword. My eyes locked on the sword's reflection, in it the reflection of a knight. It was me....but not me? I stiffened and looked around, a shiver running down my spine. I felt watched and a presence of evil. A feeling of worry settled in my chest. I looked around in a circle and slowly looked down, I reached up and pulled off my helm. I held it in my hands and turned it to face me...
I woke up next to the Thief I had been with since getting kidnapped. She was quietly laying her head on my chest without sleeping.
"You were having a nightmare..." She mumbled, fiddling with the necklace I got from being a knight.
"H-huh?..." I grunted, confused and drowsy.
"You kept tensing....and I could hear your heart speed up.., your pulse was fast.." She explained quietly.
"...o-okay then.." I shifted a little and felt her hug me tighter as if I was going to leave.
"I-I...I'm Lialah...b-by the way.." She mumbled softly.
"That's...a pretty name" I smiled gently.
She blushed softly and hid her face, refusing to let me see her embarrassment from the compliment.
"I'm Grey.." I added.
"Grey?...heh..fits you" She smirked, unhidden.
"Thanks.." I replied bluntly.
There was a boom outside in the forest, the same large thumping I had heard the day before. She seemed unfazed by it.
"Did you ever see what's making that sound?...I've been hearing it for days..." She asked quietly.
"No..but as far as I can tell it's something big, probably an animal of some sort" I explained.
"Like a dragon?" She perked up, looking at my eyes.
"Well- no- the only dragon is the dragon in the realm of the Fire Demons, and he wouldn't leave that place, too cold anywhere else" I replied.
"So...what else could it be?" She asked, looking a little concerned.
"Unsure, but let's hope it's harmless" I gave her a reassuring smile.
She smiled weakly and got up, the warmth of her body leaving an emptiness on my chest. I sat up.
"Where are you goi-" I started.
"Breakfast." She replied and left the tent.
I looked around the tent, noticing my armor on the other side of the room. I got up and ran over to it, pulling it all on and grabbing my sword and shield. I didn't expect to be able to fight a whole camp of thieves, but maybe I could run without having to hurt anyone. I pulled my helm on and walked towards the tent's entrance, stopping. I had to think of a plan, I couldn't let myself be captured again if they were violent. I started devising a distraction, thinking of a way I could set off bombs from a distance or rain my arrows to mystify them and escape somehow. There was a shriek from someone outside and I perked up, peeking out of the tent.
