Yeosang's hand was shaking slightly, as he slowly stepped onto the ledge. He hesitated, but stood up straight, as tears filled his hazel brown eyes. He swivelled them to look straight ahead, at the tops of hundreds of tall buildings, skyscrapers which were covered in windows from top to bottom. The sun was setting behind them making the sky turn to an orange-pink sort of colour, with some random puffs of fluffy white clouds in between. From up here, he could only just about make out the figures of people walking down the roads.
He shuffled his foot a fraction forward, glancing at the streets below him. Yeosang then started to move his other foot a little.
She opened the door which led to the roof of her building, sighing, tiredly. This was pretty much the only place she felt safe- and calm. Her eyes were closed as she breathed in the cold, evening air. Although it was a little chilly, she felt the familiar warm sense of comfort around her. After a few seconds of taking it all in, the girl opened her big brown eyes. To her surprise she spotted the silhouette of a tall, young man. Her eyes widened as she noticed he was standing right on the edge of the roof. All she could do was stay frozen on the spot, unsure of what to do.
Yeosang was biting his lip slightly as he looked at the golden sky, when he heard the sudden shout of a voice behind him. It was a female voice, gentle but at the same time firm.
"Wait!!" The voice called, and the Yeosang turned his head fast, to see who it was. He was a little shocked someone was up here with him, he had never seen anyone up here before, other than himself. It was why it was one of his favourite places. It was his.
His head rotated to the girl standing some metres away from him. She had long, dark brown hair which reached halfway down her spine, and large brown eyes which had been done up naturally, but effectively with a little eyeliner and shadow. The makeup emphasised the colour of her eyes- a hazel, brown colour. The girl's skin was pale but still had a subtle gold glow, similar to Yeosang's. She was slim, with a beautiful figure, almost model like. She looked at the boy in front of her, straight in the eyes.
The direction of the wind was coming from behind him, which made his hair flow to the right side of his face, just a little, hanging over his eyes. He had brown hair which complemented the tone of his honey-like skin beautifully.
The girl opened her full, pink lips to speak. "Please..." She paused, as she looked right into him, straight into his soul. Her eyebrows were creased, showing her concern. "Think about it. I-imagine how it would affect everyone you leave behind. The people you love." She spoke completely from the heart, from... experience. The girl felt tears prick her eyes but she tried to blink them back.
Yeosang just looked back at her, eyes still tearful, thinking carefully about what she was saying. His lip started to quiver- only slightly- but the girl noticed.
"They would live for the rest of their lives in grief, asking themselves what they could've done- if it was their fault."
Now, a small clear tear rolled down Yeosang's face and he tried to stop himself from breaking down, by biting his lip. He didn't realise just how hard he was pressing down. At the side of him, his hands were curled up into a fist, the knuckles turning white.
"Sometimes... you just need to talk to someone, someone who is willing to listen. Someone who can understand you. Find that person and put your trust in them, and..." She glanced down, at the grey stone floor. "And try to hang in there." Her voice was smooth and gentle, which helped Yeosang, soothing him. She had given him a whole new perspective on the situation. "One day you'll be glad you did. I promise."
He hadn't said a word the whole time, but she could see he was at least thinking about what she had said. "Oh- i've been talking to you so seriously without even having introduced myself. My name's Eun-Ji. I live in this building, so if you ever want to talk to me- I would be willing to listen." Eun-Ji showed him a small smile, and got ready to walk away when Yeosang finally said a few words.
