(ser's pov : 6 years later)

"max, if you don't hurry we're gonna miss the opening, my love," i shout to max from downstairs.

the opening of our cafe/book store is today. 6 years in the making.

after i found out about, we spent most of our time planning everything out to make sure it's perfect.

we had ups and down through the years, alessandro sadly passed away mid-january of our senior year. ezra took it better than i thought but i know he wishes he had more time with him.

ezra and i launched into college immediately after our senior year. around the beginning of our first year at college, ezra moved in with max and i.

we first started renting out the house we're currently in about 2 years ago. we needed more room with max growing and soemthing that actually feels like a home.

then, about 6 months ago, he asked me to marry him and of course, i said yes.

i look down at the engagement that stacks on top of the promise ring and i smile like i'm back in that moment with him.

we haven't decided when the weddings going to be but i want it to be in the fall. a lovely time for a lovely wedding.

i get shaken from my thoughts when i hear ezra say, "what are you think about?" i look up see a smirk etched on his face.

i laugh and bump his hip with mine. "shut up."

he pulls me in for a kiss but the moment gets ruined when i hear max exclaim, "cooties!" we look towards the 11 year old who has his hands covering his eyes.

we laugh and pull him towards us into a hug. "excited?" i ask as we pull away. he may be older but he has the same personality.

he bounces on his toes and laughs. "of course! i want some ice cream!

"you and me both, love:" i agree with max and run my stomach like i'm hungry. i look to the clock that near the front door and my eyes go wide. "car! now! we're gonna be late!"

we all run to the car and clamber in as fast as we can so we can get there on time.

20 minutes later, we're pulling into the parking lot of our diner with shining, dimpled smiles.

max runs out of the car and to the front door, dismissing the line of people who wait, as he mutters to himself. ezra and i follow close behind, just as eager as max.

ezra unlocks the door and we run in. he flicks the open sign on and turns to me. "we did it ser. we have half of our dream. serendipity is officially open!"
