Jack Skellington:

Krampus (or as his real demon name: Balvoma) is not the Devil apart from the belief, but a poor demon race who is also not a little servant or helper of Saint Nicholas apart from the belief.

What you have believed about Krampus so far, forget it now and read why a demon dealt with punishing bad children.

When Saint Nicholas began the task of starting to give gifts to children every December, people all began to love Saint Nicholas, whose love lives on to this day, and we still refer to him as Santa Claus.

But there was a demon who did not like Saint Nicholas' good deed in the slightest and thought he would overshadow that love with a little gall. This demon was Balvoma, who was a low-ranking demon, not the strongest, but in contrast, he was a rogue and unscrupulous.

In December of one year, between the 3th and 4th centuries, Balvolma came up from Hell and began to follow the parth of Saint Nicholas

In December of one year, between the 3th and 4th centuries, Balvolma came up from Hell and began to follow the parth of Saint Nicholas. Where Nicholas looked in, Balvoma also looked inside. With his demonic magic, he conjured himself an outfit like Saint Nicholas. Then, taking it on, he grabbed a bunch of birch branches, and with it went up to the sleeping children and snatched them, whether they were bad or good.

The branches of the birch made the children bloody, who in their darkness saw only the dress of Saint Nicholas. This Balvoma continued until many children were already afraid of Saint Nicholas and were sometimes attacked.

Balvoma was suprised by his ferocious act and just laughed in Hell and came up again in another December. But then he did not notice that he had entered a holy circle made by Saint Nicholas, in which the demons weakened and could not get out of there.

Saint Nicholas, onn the other hand, was too kind, even to a demon, and did not want to destroy Balvoma. Instead, he offered him a bargain, and the bargain said so:

Saint Nicholas: I will not destroy you, if you set a reprimand to children! Be my helper and then maybe it will be true that there is goodness in the demons as well!

Of course, on this Balvoma laughed out loud, with which Saint Nicholas tossed the end of his want into the snow, in which Balvoma in the seal left a sudden burning pain. Balvoma finally agreed to the bargain. Saint Nicholas gives to the good children, who in turn were bad ti punish them by Balvoma. But so Balvoma could not trick him, Saint Nicholas laid a chain on Balvoma, with which he did not bind it, but merely market it. If Balvoma still breaks his bargain, the chains will start ringing. This is because the ringing of the chains works like a bell on the cows, and Balvoma cannot remove these chains.

The deal was made and this is where the certain case of Saint Nicholas and Balvoma, also know as Krampus, visits the children every December to the good ones get a gift, and the bad ones a big beating.

With the death of Saint Nicholas, the bargain became nothing, but Balvoma refused to continue this task, saying that he did it all only because of the expiration of Nicholas. And since Saint Nicholas is no more, Balvoma has no reason to go back. However, what they did became a habit.
And over the years to this day and we hope to continue, albeit childish, but it remains.

Balvoma was arguably the only more gracious demon, as he only beat the bad kids. He would have had the strength to kill, but he had no reason to do so. For if he killed those whom he wanted to scare with the evil Saint Nicholas, the people could not have told this further so that the reputation of Saint Nicholas would deteriorate.
