Chapter 4: Memories

Warning before you read: the next Chapters will be a bit violent but not too serious I hope for anyone reading. Do read at you own risk. Now, back to the story!

      A week has passed and I had just finished my performance. She hadn't arrived yet but I kept waiting. I waited in the kitchen, hoping to hear her voice. It was 11 and I was so nervous for I was pacing back and forth. Mike the cook was cooking when he noticed me nervous. "Oliver! What's the matter?! You keep walking back and forth! Did something happen?" "I invited a girl to dinner today but she hasn't arrived yet!" "Ah, in love. It's a pity who don't believe in love. Unless something bad happens and all things fall down. Later, they don't believe in love!" "I know she'll come! I won't lose hope! But I'll keep your saying..." "I wasn't referring to you but I was just saying. It happened with me and my wife. She left for I had no money! I spent it all on bills and she used money to buy stuff for herself. Selfish she was, that I didn't had much love anymore when she was all about sharing money. *Sigh* Sometimes, some of parts of are life can be so complicated that you must change. Do you love her?" "When I laid my eyes on her, my heart jumped. I felt something special about her than other ladies. I'd be heartbroken if she didn't came but I'll still love her." I finally sat down and felt sweat falling down my forehead. I wiped it away with my cloth I had. "I'm sure she has a reason. I-" "Oliver! Oliver?! Where are you?" I gasped, for she finally came. I ran out the kitchen and saw her in the middle of all the empty tables. "Ava!" She turned around and tears fell down. "There, there. It's alright." "No! It's not! I promised I would come and look at me! I came so late because of my parents!" "What did you tell them...?" "I didn't tell them I have you, I told them I left something important at my work! I'm so sorry!" "No worries. As long you're here, everything is fine! Mike! Make something special for both of us!" "Right on it! Do want leftovers?" I turned around with a serious face and he laughed. "I'm just kidding! Be right back!" After he left, me and Ava sat down. "Are you that upset?" "Of course not! I was getting nervous of what happened to you! I be disappointed if you didn't came but I would still love you!" She blushed and combed her hair. "So, do you know what we're eating?" "To the truth, I didn't ask anything specific but I'm hoping it's something good!" "I'm starving! I didn't eat so I wouldn't be full here! I be embarrassed if I didn't eat." "While you watch me eat." "That too..." She stood quietly while I keep looking around to talk about something. "Do you want to see a magic trick?" "Sure! To pass the time! Show me!" I disappeared and appeared on the stage. "Just let think of a trick for you! Hmm..." I started to float slightly to impress her a bit. Think, think! What would be a good trick for her?! I can't think of anything! Argh! "I can't think of anything to do right now but." I disappeared and appeared sitting back in my seat. "Let's just talk about our lives! Ladies first?" "You're too kind." "I prefer the word generous. It fits right for me." "Alright, well. I work at hair salon which isn't a big deal but they do give me a good money." "Really? At a hair salon?" "Yes, they give me like 300 each week! What about you, Oliver? Do you just work here on the weekends?" "I do work here on the weekends but I have another job. I'm an engineer. Well, I wasn't that before I went up the rank. Before I was engineer, I was a car mechanic. I still know a bit to fix cars still." "Maybe you can fix my car one day if it breaks down. For free." "Maybe. Though going to the mechanic and paying! Whew! A lot of money than normal you expect!" "Yeah, one of my relative's car broke down and had to bring it to the mechanic. She got bankrupt because of that..." "Ooh, I hope someone help them. That's a tight situation." "It is and my parents helped. Thank God because their life was gonna be a mess if she didn't have any help. Do you have any relatives? Siblings?" "Not much relatives. We're a small family, really. I have a younger sister, she's 17 right now. She's about to graduate. She's the only sister I got. How about you? Anyone close to you?" "I wish. I had my older sister and her family. They were amazing. If so sad that they were killed..." "Oh my god! How did they died?! If you don't mind, I mean. I'm just curious." "It's alright, I'm not that upset, I was before but I'm over being depressed. Someone hired a hitman to kill them, including me. But they ended up not killing but I knew what their plan was. I told the police who hired the Hitman but I didn't tell them who was the Hitman, for I could be in trouble." "What did you tell them?" "I told them that I didn't know. I always have this feeling that I'm being followed." "You don't have to worry anymore, Ava. I can take care of you. I would love someone special in my life. Do you believe me?" "You should have said trust but yes. I have confidence we'll be great together!" She grabbed my hand and I took it. We kept staring until someone interrupted. "The dinner is ready! I want both of you lovers to close your eyes!" "I'll cover your eyes, Oliver." "And I'll close yours." We each covered our hands to each other eyes and waited. I sniffed and it smelled so good. God, what did Mike made?! "Open your eyes! Surprise!!" We uncovered our eyes and both gasped. "Spaghetti? I love it!" "Yeah, you have good taste! I love this! My favorite pasta! Thank you, Mike!" "Yes, thanks!" "Glad you like it! And, what's your name? Oliver mentioned you but didn't say your name..." "Ava." "Ava. What a lovely name! You seem familiar though. You looked like my mother. I've never seen you though." "Really? "Yes, and to tell the truth, she looked almost exactly like you. Just a bit taller, with glasses, and with freckles. Hmm." He walked away and Ava looked shocked. I whispered to her, "What's wrong?" "I can't believe... No, it's not possible!" "What is?" "He described my sister! He can't be my nephew! I don't know!" "Maybe your sister never mentioned him." "She would have told me! I have to ask him one day! The Hitman killed all of my sister's family except me! Such a coincidence." "Well. You should stop worrying for now. Let's eat before it gets cold." I saw that there was one plate for both of us to eat. "Oh, um. Guess we have to eat in the same plate..." "It's fine, as long we have two different forks. This actually reminds of the movie, The Lady and The Tramp!" "Yes, You'd be the Lady and I'm the Tramp. Just that, I'm not that low in class." "Definitely not. Well let's eat!" We both took a fork and started eating. I'm in Paradise... Eating my favorite food with Ava, who's so special to me! "Do you guys like it?" "Yeah, it's so good!" "What about you, Oliver? Oh. Sorry, my bad." I was still eating and trying to shallow it all. I cleaned myself and nodded. "It's, good. Very good! Wow, I've haven't tasted a pasta so good since I had my grandmother's pasta!!" "Do you want something to drink? Something special like Wine?" I looked at Ava and she nodded. "We'll have two glasses please." "Coming right up!" He left us alone and Ava giggled. "What's funny?" "I see Mike with a lot of energy. It's funny and a bit cute. Are you energetic, Oliver?" "Not much, Sometimes. It does reminds me of a friend of mine when I was little. It's been awhile since I've talked with her." "She must be a good friend. To be friends for a long time, no?" I nodded and kept eating. After I swallow it, I was about to talk when I heard a crash behind me. I turned but just saw Ava. "Did you hear that?" "Y-Yes... Did it come from the kitchen?" "I think it did but only Mike is in there..." I got up and slowly started going to the kitchen. We then heard multiple crashes. "We're not alone..." "What do we do?!" "We could hide but I don't want to leave Mike alone! Let me think..." Ava gasped and I had my back towards the kitchen. "What-" "Behind you!!" I turned around but it was too late before someone pinned me to the ground. "Oliver!!" "Run!! I'll make sure you'll be okay!" She took one look more and ran to my room. I tried getting up and getting off the person on me. "Get the lady too! She went that way, we don't neither left behind!" While he was talking to his gang, I managed to get off him. He saw I wasn't under him and attempted to grab me. I backed away and when I had the chance, I punched as hard I could. I punched him in the face so hard, that he lost a tooth. Before I got up, I closed my eyes and focused. Where's Ava right now? Ugh, I can't concentrate with too much noise! "Wait! He's free?! Get him! I don't want anymore trouble!!" I opened my eyes and there were going after me. I closed my eyes and went away from there to find Ava. Ava, where are you? Please respond to me but not out loud! Oliver? How do you that? Sorry, I'm in your closet in your room... Okay, I'll distract them, somehow. I went inside my room and heard they were coming. Here goes nothing... They opened the door and I disappeared. "She has to be in here! Look everywhere!" "Not on my watch!!" I punched the guy who talked and was getting to go for the rest. There were 3 more. I hope I can get them all or I'm done for! They went charging at me and I managed to dodge some hits from them but I couldn't avoid everyone. I knocked out two guys but I needed one more and I was getting tired. I was already panting. He had me blocked with a wall against my back. "Aw, is the magician tired? How about I knock to see your dreams!" He threw his fist and I fell to the ground. I need to stay awake... I need, I need. Help! I once again tried to talk with Ava but the guy was starting to get at me. "Time to sleep. Hehehe." He was going for my neck but I kicked him in the gut. He was on the ground but I knew it wasn't enough. Ava! Can you hear me?! Yes, I can. Are you okay? Can I come out now? No! But I need your help! I need you to, Ahhh!! I got interrupted by the guy who he grabbed my hair and threw against the floor. "Ugh..." I realized that I was against my closet with Ava inside. Ava, do you see something that can knock someone out?! I see... A bat?! Yes, that'll work! Be prepared to use it on the one who's beating the hell out of me. Okay... I stayed on the ground for I had no more strength to do anything. "I'm on last nerve! You're dead meat!!" He was very close to me when the closet opened and he wasn't prepared. "Eat this!!" She hit him on the head and fell down without getting up anymore. I lifted my head and my eye vision was starting to blur. "Ava, call the police right now. I can't stay awake right now..." "I'll do what you said. You'll be fine. Just get some rest." I heard the last part and put down my head.
      I woke up for I don't know how long I was out but I saw a police officer squatting and watching me. "Hey, glad you're alive sir. You got some bad bruises." "Where's my friend?! What happened?!" "Ah, your lady friend. She's in the kitchen along with the other guy. We got the call from her and handle these bad guys." "Can I go see them?" "Sure, can you walk?" "I think I can. Let me try." The officer helped me get up and I could walk fine. "If you don't mind, can I company you?" "Not at all." We walked slowly back. "You are the great magician Oliver? Am I right?" "Yes." "Do you have any idea why these bad guys were here?" "I really don't know. I doubt they could go for me but I only wanted to have a date with someone." "With the lady? You got good taste. She's a lovely person. Looks but more actions. You could say I'm a bit jealous!" "I fell in love when I first asked someone from the audience to do a trick with me. She volunteered and was a bit scared but I told her to trust me. I told her the same when I'm trying to protect from these bad guys..." "You're lucky neither of you, the lady or the other guy weren't that hurt! They had guns and knifes!" "What?!" I stopped walking. "You sure they had that?!" "Each one of them had one in their pocket. They didn't use it?" "No! I guess they had it if we didn't cooperate but I fought with them to fists and magic. A bit of magic." We kept walking. "I come sometimes to watch the show. It's amazing what you do than any other magician. I also invite my wife here sometimes to eat. The food here is amazing!" "You can tell that to the cook here." "Cook? You mean the other guy is the cook?!" "Yeah, he made our spaghetti and went to get our wine but then we heard a crash. That's where the chaos started." "Gosh." We walked into the kitchen and saw Ava was helping with Mike. "Oliver! You're okay!!" "Yeah, some bruises. Not much. Are you okay, Mike?" "Yeah, I did what I could to defend myself but It wasn't enough. I didn't lose that much blood." "But I see lots of blood on the ground!" The officer said besides me. Mike laughs but winces with his pain. Ava kept wrapping the cloth around his head. "That's not blood, it's wine. I was making wine for this beginning couple!" "Oh, Oliver did told me that but I didn't know." "What a waste..." "It's alright, Oliver. I'm just glad no one got hurt that bad and we're still alive. I would love to go another date with you. If you don't mind." "No! Not at all! Ahem, I'll have to see my schedule to see if I'm available..." I blushed in embarrassment. "Officer Kevin! A word!" "Coming, Chief! I better get going, hope you two get better. Later, miss Ava. You're lucky to have a nice man!" He walked away and I was blushing so bad that I couldn't cover it. Neither could Ava. "Admit it. Everyone knows you both are perfect for each other!" We didn't respond for another officer walked in. "Excuse me? I found this spaghetti untouched and unfinished and was wondering who it was." "Ours!!" Me and Ava said at the same time. "It's cold but I'll just leave it here." He left and went to the spaghetti. "Do you really want to finish it cold?" "I don't care, I just wanted a nice date but it got ruined!" "Same as I. I never tasted cold spaghetti but I want to finish this date happily!" "By the way, what happened to the wine bottle?" "I accidentally use it as defense and didn't spill anything of your drinks. I haven't took the glasses for your wine..." "Doesn't matter then. Toast to this odd first date and to the special woman I've laid eyes on." "Toast to the one who'll be always be with me and perfect for each other." There were a few more and we just ate each one of them. There was one more until the plate would be empty. We both got the ends and started eating until it was getting shorter. We knew what was going next for our lips, for we were getting closer to each other. Our lips finally touched and we kissed. It was short kiss for now but it was just the beginning.
"Many months passed, and we were a good couple. We knew everything about each other. Almost. I haven't told her everything like my real name and other things I can't tell you, Luke." I was about speak again until I hear a knock on the door. Please don't be Olivia! I opened and watched Olivia being annoyed with me. "I see you aren't on the couch sleeping yet. It's 10 and I wanted to talk to you but you had to be talking with Luke all night! And you won't be here tomorrow!!" "Well, I'm sorry! I thought I heard you say that you were going to sleep!" She glared at me and left to her room. "Sigh, guess I'm not going to finish my story. I'll tell you another day. You should get some rest. Hopefully, we'll have good luck and find something! Good night, Luke." "Good night, Oscar..." I closed the door and read a little bit of Luke's mind. I hope Kristy and Will are fine. I don't want them missing tomorrow... I got to sleep and not worry. I opened my eyes and walked away. I wanted to tell Luke they'll be fine, for the rest who disappeared haven't lost their family members but it would be wrong. If I told him, he knew I read his read his mind without permission. I only use it sometimes, for I use my own energy. I got to the couch and slept immediately, without checking the others room.

Chapter 4, I loved writing this chapter so much!! I do love some romance in every story! Chapter 5 will come very soon. I don't think the chapters will be as long as this one but I don't know. Hope you guys have a good day and be safe! Have happy thoughts!!
