"Woah don't you look pretty." Dej said as she walked in on me admiring myself.
"Thanks Dej."
"You're looking more and more like your mom." She had an uneasy smile like she was nervous of my reaction but I knew she was just complimenting me. I changed my top then grabbed my phone.
"Xhaden I'm going to the mall with Dejanae!" I shouted as I got to the door. I locked the door and walked across the street to her car but then her mother called her inside.
"Yeah mom!"
"Where you going Dej?" Her dad suddenly asked.
"I'm just heading over to the mall."
"Your mom know that?" Between these two, her mom is the strict parent but her dad knows he'll not stick up to her if Dej just up and leaves.
"Mom I'm going out!" She called out immediately walking towards the door until we heard her voice boom through the house. She sighed knowing this was expected. We walked upstairs to see her well dressed like she was going out herself.
"You must've lost your damn mind shouting in my house like that child." She scolded her.
"Sorry." Dej mumbled
"And tell me were you asking me if you could leave the house. It sounded like you were telling me but I know I have to be wrong."
"Vadah and I wanted to go to the mall and maybe go to Aaliyah's after to work on our homework together if that's okay, I wanted to go." She corrected herself hoping she wouldn't make an issue out of it.
"Hello Vadah, good to see you darling. And this homework couldn't be done over face time, I suppose?" Now she's just being difficult for no reason.
"Yes but we just wanted to work on it yunno in person, please." Dej could've lied but there would be no point in that.
"It's a school night so yunno the drill. If I don't see you back in this house on time-
"I'll be on time I promise." She blurted out. Her mom nodded and we thanked her happily before dashing down the stairs and heading for Deja's car.
Her mom can be overwhelming sometimes if I'm being honest. She's unnecessarily strict if you asked me. Dejanaé's a growing child about to be 18 and she is fairly obedient. Her mouth is reckless so she nay get into arguments here and there but that's about it. Plus she always brings home great grades and never had any boys over at her home. How long does she expect to rule and control her for anyway. She already said if it gets too much to bare she's moving out as soon as she turns 18 and I wouldn't put it past her.
"Aaliyah asked us to stop for snacks before we come over." I announced after reading her text.
"Alright cool, we can get them at the gas station."
