Another side

Chapter 8

After we leave the Sinclair's house, we go the Wheelers household. We get to the Wheelers' house and ring the doorbell a few times. It takes a while before someone actually opens the door and it's Mrs Wheeler is in a robe. Sam smiles flirtily and she smiles back. He looks her up and down. "I didn't realize Nancy had a sister."

I almost gag. Is he really flirting with my best friend's mother? She chuckles and he feigns confusion. "What?" She makes a sheepish face as if embarrassed to admit it. "I'm Nancy's mother."His eyes widen. "No." She nods. "Yes." "Mrs Wheeler."

Finally I've had enough and I clear my throat. Her eyes go to me for the first time and she regains her composure. "Jessie?" I smile. "Hi, Mrs Wheeler." "Are you all looking for Nancy cause she's having a sleepover that you're supposed to be at." My eyes widen but not enough for her to notice.

"Oh, yeah I was at the sleepover but poor Billy and Sam here called me in a state cause their little sister is missing. Well Billy's sister, Sam's cousin. And she's recently been hanging out with the boys at school. We went to Lucas's house first but his mum said this is the designated hangout spot."

She smiles at me but her eyes are still entirely on Sam who's been making eyes at her this whole time. She tells us that they're probably at my house and we leave. God I hope they aren't there. We arrive and Steve is standing at the front door when we're done parking. Shit I think they are here. Sam exits the car and then Billy and finally me. Steve looks at me betrayed like I'm fraternizing with the enemy.

Billy whistles. "Am I dreaming or is that you Harrington?" He shrugs. "Yeah don't cream your pants." I snort and he smiles at me. Sam steps up. "Enough of the festivities. We're looking for my cousin. Red head, short, a bitch."

He shrugs. "Haven't seen her." "You sure cause this whole situation, it just doesn't sit right with me." "Why's that?" Sam leans against the car. "My thirteen year old cousin goes missing all day and I find her with you at a stranger's house and you lie to me about it."

I look at him. "This is my house. I'm not a stranger." He ignores me of course. Steve scoffs. "I'm telling you, she's not here." Sam looks to the window. "Then who is that?" We look in his direction and four kids duck down hiding.

Oh you're fucking kidding me. Sam pushes Steve down and kicks him in his stomach. Billy offers him his hand. "I told you to plant your feet." He helps Steve up and I run after Sam who's now in the house.

He goes for Lucas and I immediately run after him. He pins Lucas against the wall telling him to stay away from Max. Suddenly Lucas knees him in the balls. I smile proudly but not for long because Sam is about to beat the shit out of Lucas.

He charges forward but before he even touches him, Billy taps his shoulder. He turns towards him and before anyone can react Billy punches Sam in the face. I gasp shocked. Sam however gets into a fit of laughter.

"Little cuzzie has finally grown some balls? This is gonna be fun." They start fighting and Billy is winning at first and I silently cheer for him. Suddenly Sam breaks a plate and breaks on Billy's head. I gasp. Oh my god!!

The tables turn and suddenly Sam is winning. He straddles Billy and continously punches him in the face. I look at Steve pleadingly to do something. Steve tries to step in but Sam's too strong and just shoves him aside.

The tears fall down my face as I watch him basically kill Billy. Suddenly Max walks past me and I watch in shock as she stabs a needle into Sam's neck. Sam looks startled asking her what she did before he collapses onto the ground laughing.

Max grabs Steve's bat over her head. "From here on out, you'll leave me, my friends, Billy and his friends alone. Do you understand?" He glares at her. "Screw you." She bangs the bat down barely missing his balls. "Say you understand! Say it! Say it!" He looks at her in covered up fear.
