Calen's POV
The days pass and Maddox grows angrier and angrier. To the point where it's impossible to talk to her without getting snapped at or cussed out.
Cannon was like that when I first met him. She's just scared and sad. We both are.
The videos didn't help. They started about 2 days after Cannon was taken.
The first few weren't awful. They cut into him, but in true Cannon fashion, he didn't move. He didn't scream or even flinch. Just stared unblinking at the camera and told them all the ways he was going to make them suffer.
Then the videos stopped for a few days. We were both terrified that they killed him because he was too stubborn. But we got another one and let's just say this one was worse. A lot worse.
They sensory deprived him so all he could do was feel pain and scream. All his finger nails are now gone, his face and body are nothing more than a bloodied mangled mess. There's a long jagged scar to match his other one going down his face.
Guess we're matching now.
We're trying to get him out, but there's no leads so far. We have no clue where the bastard is.
Maddox POV
Weeks later.
I'll burn everything Dakota has ever loved or even cared for to the fucking ground while he watches.
We had to fall off the grid basically. That meant dyed hair and contacts for me and Calen. We both have distinctive looks.
I settled on a ombré black and silver look. Calen argued that it wasn't different enough but I'm too angry of a person to pull off blonde. So this is what we get.
(Yes I know this would basically be impossible to do at home. Shutup.)
Calen settled on black hair. We both have brown contacts.
"Maddox!" Calen yells.
"What the fuck do you want?!" I scream back.
"I know where he is."
...
We're sitting just outside where they're holding him with about 30 or so men. We can't have too many or we'd be noticed right away.
"I'm going, Calen!" I argue.
"If I let you anywhere near that place, he'll kill me. You're staying in the car. That's final."
Yeah, I know. What an asshole.
"You can't stop me."
"Wanna bet?" He leans forward cuffs my wrist and attaches it to the handle in front of us.
"You're dead. You're fucking dead." He smiles and winks.
"I promise I'll get him, Mads. I won't come out without him."
I ignore him.
He grabs my face and makes me look at him.
"I promise."
I nod my head. "What the fuck are you still doing here then? Hurry up."
He says something over the walkie talkies and gets out of the car, gun drawn. He gives me one last look and runs ahead of us into the compound.
Calen's POV
I run and stand my the main entrance. The men are placed at every entrance so we can all go in and rush them at the same time.
"Ready?" I ask over the coms.
"Ready."
We push in the doors and all hell breaks loose. Bullets are flying everywhere and it's hard to tell who is shooting what.
I Fuck my head and sprint for the stairs that lead down to the basement. We had a printout of the layout of their building. They never stood a chance.
I bound down the stairs and am met with 5 guards. I shoot two of them on sight. The other three rush me but one of the guys that followed me down knocks one out and I handle the other two with minimal difficulty. I see cell type rooms lining the room and I start searching through each one.
They each come up empty. I reach the last one and say a mini prayer that he's in there. I can't leave without him. I swing the door open.
There his is. He dangles from the ceiling by his arms. His back is in ribbons. Completely and utterly destroyed. But that's not the worst of it.
Carved into is side are words.
Useless, worthless, pathetic.
His head is slumped forward and I'm not even sure if he's alive. I move to help him. He flinches hard at my touch and his breathing becomes erratic.
Oh thank fuck.
I reach into his ears and pull out the plugs. He whips his head around, trying to figure out what's happening.
"Hey! Cannon it's me. Calen."
Confusion crosses his face as the blindfold comes off.
"Calen?" He rasps out.
"Yeah, man. It's okay. Let's get you down."
He nods slightly as I reach up and cut him down. His legs give out and he falls to the floor with a groan.
I pick him up and let him lean on me.
"Can you walk?"
He shakes his head.
"That's okay. Lean on me and let's get you the hell out of here."
He nods. We hobble to the stairs. I heave him up each one as he grunts in pain. Jaw clenched hard. His eyes start to flutter and I can see that he's losing consciousness. Fast.
"Come on, Cannon. Stay with me. You can't knock out before she sees you. She'll kill both of us."
A smirk lights up his face and I see the shear determination set in.
We make it up the stairs and out the door. We head to the car.
I'll check up on the men later. This is more important.
I see her pouting in the front seat. She looks up and sees him.
Tears immediately erupt from her face as she pulls at the cuff.
"You hand cuffed her?" Cannon asks.
"You try telling her she can't come in the compound."
He chuckles which turns into a wince. I open the door and deposit him in the back seat, where he slumps over and closes his eyes.
"I swear to god, Calen if you ever handcuff me again, I'll carve your eyes out with a rusty spoon."
I chuckle and incurs her. She launches herself into the backseat and cradles Cannon's head.
"Hey, Princess." He chokes out, tears in his eyes.
"I love you." She sobs as she presses her forehead to his. He says it back, then passes out in her lap.
Sorry for the many POV changes. It's hard to capture every aspect lol.
Is it too much?
