Story: The Warrior Princess
Chapter One: Hopes and PlansThe piece of parchment had survived for about three centuries. It was tattered and the ink was wearing off but it was readable.
King Ronan Kimball gazed at the parchment which was now, sitting on top of a table in his room. "It might just be some prophecy," said a female voice. King Ronan turned to see his wife, sitting on the bed with a tiny bundle in her arms, "You don't think she's the heir, do you?" she asked. King Ronan walked over and saw the tiny bundle. An infant was curled up. Not just any infant. She was the first princess in the Kimball's family tree after three hundred years.
"For all we know, she might be."
"W-what if it's true then, Ronan? Will you leave her to her fate?"
"I don't want to."
"What if we destroy the prophecy?"
"What if we need the prophecy if it's true?"
"Ugh! Why should it be my daughter?"
King Ronan sighed. "She's my daughter too, Cynthia!"
"Then, do something Ronan...please...anything, I do not want her to kill anyone..."
"Nor do I, Cynthia, Nor do I."
"Who do you think is the traitor? A traitor in our noble and ancient family?"
"That, Cynthia, is a difficult question though I have a very good guess about the traitor."
"Do you think it's-it's... ?"
"Yes, I hope it will not be him...he is too brutal..."
"Oh dear God! My poor daughter... but did you not mention to me that he died as soon as he was released from the prison, Ronan?"
"That's what I was told, Cynthia. Mother told me as such. I do not know the true part. I have a bad feeling that he is still there...alive..."
"Oh God..."
"Calm down, love. We shall figure a way out. Maybe we can restrict our daughter from doing anything dangerous. If she...if she does not learn fencing, she will not be able to wield a sword, let alone some rumored magical sword."
"You are right, Ronan. Maybe...just maybe there is a chance. Is the sword...you know, true?"
"You mean if it is a myth or no? Well, I am not exactly sure but as far as I have heard it was made by elves and was passed to the first Kimball – Lord Ignatius Kimball. The mythologies talked about the friendship between the elf nation and Lord Ignatius. It seems that Lord Ignatius had helped the elf nation in times of war and the elves in return wanted to thank him for his service.
"As a token of gratitude and appreciation, the sword was made and presented to Lord Ignatius. They named him as the chief human king of elves. Why do you think the name our kingdom-Kneazleland sounds so odd? It is because elves named it as something in elvish and we, humans have no knowledge about elvish."
"So, do elves really exist?"
"Yes, of course. I think there might be two or three alive, residing in a secret valley rumored to be named as The Valley of Blooms and perhaps atop the Dewdrop mountain which is again rumoured to be the house of the sword."
That was when a knock sounded. "Come in," King Ronan said, clearly. The door opened to reveal a mop of black hair and a small boy's head peeked in. The royal parents smiled. "Come in, Dan."
The small boy walked in. He wore a goofy grin and his bright blue, ocean eyes held a curious twinkle in them. He was in his banana pajamas and had a little teddy bear in his arms. "Wot is her name?" the four year old prince asked.
King Ronan chuckled as he got up from the bed and walked over to his first son. He picked him up and placed him on the bed beside his wife. "We have not yet named her. Do you want to name her, Dan?"
"Yee!"
"Alright, Sweetheart. Go ahead," Cynthia encouraged.
Little Dan sat up on his knees and looked fondly at his little sister. "Emma."
"Emma?"
"Yee! Emma Kimba!"
King Ronan and Queen Cynthia laughed. "Princess Emma Kimball. Has a nice ring to it, right dear?"
"Yes, love. Fantastic name, Dan!"
Little Dan chuckled and clapped his hands excited that his suggestion was taken into account. King Ronan leaned over and kissed the little girl's forehead. "Welcome to the world, Emma, Emma Kimball."
Hey guys!
To those who got the idea that I named the characters (Dan and Emma) after Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, I am sorry but no. Yes, Emma is named after Emma Watson as I was inspired by Watson's quote and she had to be credited here. That's why I named the main character after her. As for Radcliffe, no. Dan is not named after him. Dan is the name of an original character I drew when I was small for my stories. In my stories, he always acted as a big brother. That's the reason for naming Emma's brother as Dan. Coincidence, I find now.Edit: Alright. The above said para makes no sense now. I wrote this chapter before requesting aesthetics and once more, coincidence that the character aesthetic made by my bestie had the photo of Daniel Radcliffe for Dan Kimball. Haha :D.
Edit, over and out.So, here is end of the beginning. Did you like this chapter? Please vote. It encourages me! The next chapter will be a time skip. Did you find this chapter filled with suspense? The answers to the questions will be revealed as the story goes on.
Hoping to see y'all in the next chapter! Stay tuned.
