"You ready?" Val asked, peeking into Hubris' room.
The latter was there, seated on a chair.
"Yeah," Hubris answered, blushing again that she was in his room. "Just a minute."
"We're almost always last to everything," Val said in a low voice. "At least it's not my fault."
"Oh, so it's all mine?"
"Yes sir."
Val maintained a dead-serious expression for a few seconds before breaking into a humorous grin. Hubris found himself smiling back, though it was slightly dazed. Dang, she really was pretty that way.
"For someone who got shot in the ribs, you look like you're already good to go," He commented aloud.
"I'm willing myself to return to normal as fast as possible," She replied. "I think you should do the same."
Hubris finally made to stand, and at once Val was at his side. The walking crutch was annoying when alone, but it made every mundane walk interesting when she was here. Somehow, she had grown close to him as a friend, perhaps because of Ria's withdrawn personality as well as the fact that Hubris was one of the few here who she did bond with to an extent.
"Today's the day," Val said, closing the door behind Hubris.
"Oh?" Hubris responded. "What for?"
"As per what Ria told me, the CPRU is coming."
Abbigail. Abbigail Finch.
Adopted daughter of Edgar Finch. Born in a small logging town in the forest of Underwood that has since been abandoned. Has no known siblings.
She rose from her peasant-class background to become an icon of the opposition to Diamond Heights. The elderly Finch had sown within the small child a great hatred for the rich elites resting in Crown Peak who were sucking the wealth out from families like hers all the way up north in Underwood. Not all humans supported the Diamond Heights political party, only the wealthy middle and upper class.
25 years later, and she was now sowing the same seeds in hundreds of thousands of loyal followers that sympathized for her cause. She had made herself so many enemies that they were numberless. So too were her supporters, that stood like a phalanx of political shields on all sides of her.
And here she was in Ataraxia, about to meet another equally popular leader amongst K' Arthen, Ataraxia, and parts of the Ardoni Confederacy. The great political leader would meet the great military leader.
"Welcome ma'am, to Ataraxia," An Ardoni with creamy-white markings said, gesturing for Abbigail and her companions to follow him.
The group had been greeted by the sentries, who immediately had a proper escort lead her to the city of Ataraxia. She hadn't said much, letting those who were native to the area lead her.
"This is the famous city, huh?" Denny murmured. "The home of the mighty partisans."
"And now home to a particular Sendaris girl," Abbigail murmured back.
Denny was the first one to join her. He had essentially become her right-hand man, before rising himself to take his place as a massively influential leader in his own right. Hailing from the Pinkolson district, the bread basket of Hydraphel, he had gained a certain following over the small farmers. He was, in effect, the biggest reason why Diamond Heights had been campaigning in Hyperia and other big cities more ferociously than ever, making absolute sure that the votes of the middle and upper class city folk would always serve as a majority.
